Australian Domestic Season 2022-23

Harris I get but what's to say that A) Renshaw's technique was never up to test standard and B) that he hasn't changed his technique at all? From what i've read and seen renshaw's issues where mental after langer stuffed him around and his form fell off a cliff. Not like he's never made runs in test's.
IIRC he did make runs on pretty flat decks, but he can do it. Harris hasn't even shown he can score on those.

I think Renshaw plays across his front pad quite a lot which is problematic. At least he used to anyway.

NSW'S selection policy will never not amaze me. There batting is paper thin and yet they leave kerr on the bench to play Hatcher. Hatcher averages 35 with the ball in red all FFS.

Is there any Australian player who's failed between state and international level like Wade has? Averages 46 in the shield, has a good one day cup record and is one of the best BBL batsmen going around, but has never been able to consistently crack international cricket.

Harris.

From earlier generations, Blewett is possibly one though he wasn't as bad at Test level as Wade was.

Whiteman's stats since he started opening at the end of the 2019/2020 shield season: 1532 runs @47, 6 hundreds, 6 fifties. In that time he was MOTM in in the shield final that WA won and he's a fantastic player of spin. The fact that he's not had any chances with Aus-A in this period is mind-boggling to me, tbh. Can't think of an opener in the shield bar pucovski who's put those kind of numbers up in the period.

https://www.cricket.com.au/news/gle...ent-odi-squad-australia-sean-abott/2022-11-13 Maxwell has injured his leg at a birthday party and is out for "an extended period." Interested to see how we balance the side without him, Maxwell at 7 has been a massive part of our recent success in the format. Wouldn't mind giving David a callup if he's fit to see how hede go in the role, as close to a like to like as we have, but seems like Abbott got called in instead.

No not David! Maxwell feels like a big loss but his output has actually been pretty bad for a while so it might not be a disaster for the team.

Very unfortunate for him though and has come at a bad time, wish him all the best.

Warner
Head
Smith
Carey
Marsh
Stoinis
Green
Agar/Zamp/***/Starc/Haze x 4

would be tempting to play an extra batsman to keep an all-rounder at 8, because that is a lot of bowling options

Has Maxwell's ODI output been poor for a while? He didn't score for 5 innings vs Zimbabwe/ NZ this summer, but for 2 years before that he was averaging 55~ @120.

I get your enthusiasm given his potential but I would not risk him in OD cricket just yet. Let him play couple more shield seasons and get him in to the test side

wtf really?

wow I was very wrong
Very wrong indeed. On current ICC batting rankings, Maxwell is above Hale, Warner and Williamson among others in T20s and above Buttler in ODIs. He is also still ranked at #11 in T20 all rounder rankings despite limited bowling opportunities in recent games.

Maxwell will be sorely missed in the upcoming ODIs. .
