Australian Domestic Season 2022-23

After Harris and Handscomb I'm not sure who actually would be next. Maddo definitely would've made sense before this season. KPat? Wade recall?

It was an innocuous enough statement about someone who just played for Australia A IMO even if it was a slight stretch, probably didn't really need the tedious back and forth over it.
I regret to inform you ...

They'll take at least five, probably six quicks on an Ashes tour won't they? Starc will tour barring injury but no certainty to play given 2019. Cummins and Haze are locks, and let's be honest they're about 85 times better than anything England has by themselves.

Then one of Starc, Boland, Richardson or Neser would probably be in the squad, though Dermo Sabba Abbott is better than any of them.

Also, only SA could get through the first morning of a Shield match in Perth unscathed then suffer a run out from the last ball before lunch.

Between Weatherald, Carey and Callum Ferguson before he retired, a shambolic run out at least every second game has been a constant fixture of South Australian cricket for years

Boland will do better in Australia than England. This idea that bowlers like him tear up in England is stupid.
I have it on good authority that Boland is a master of the Duke ball

He plays it like Hendrix does the guitar

or Johnny Sins does the, well you know

Boland is very good. His Test average obviously flatters but he bowled immaculately accurately last summer and deserved good returns. Would've got them even against less a shambles opposition for sure.

But that doesn't mean he's an England specialist. The extra bounce here makes accurate upright-seam bowling more dangerous (clarification: I meant compared to other types of bowling, rather than in an absolutely sense), contrary to conventional wisdom about the "English seamer". England specialists move it in the air and/or master the length there. No evidence of either from Boland.

Most of them are either primarily swing bowlers or bowl too short here.
I specified 'seamer' to deliberately exclude swing bowlers.

Very impressive effort by Victoria to lose by an innings after Queensland scored only 205. Also the trope of Shield pitches being either flat and lifeless or excessively green is in full effect atm.

CA selectors never change

Pick test squad on some random date and include Harris while making reference to his county stats

Harris loses form well before first test & eventually gets dropped

Wash, rinse, repeat

Here’s the thing for me

I am no genius but I know that Harris’ technique isn’t up to test cricket and there’s more than enough evidence

Same with Renshaw

Neither have improved their games so why keep going back to the well?

Harris I get but what's to say that A) Renshaw's technique was never up to test standard and B) that he hasn't changed his technique at all? From what i've read and seen renshaw's issues where mental after langer stuffed him around and his form fell off a cliff. Not like he's never made runs in test's.
