Victoria showing typical form when the ball moves
You know he’s done well over the last couple of seasons.Maddinson?????
Barely made a run all season, miles off imo
Last season was indeed good, but the one before that he only averaged 31. Wasn't in the PM's XI squad (which is effectively Australia A in all but name) which suggests to me he is a long way from front and centre of the selectors mindsYou know he’s done well over the last couple of seasons.

I think so. Victoria seem to have shown preference for Harris and Handscomb. I get the impression that it's always Maddinson that has to make accommodations for other players. I wonder how that's impacted him? Score runs and get recognition right? But he wasn't picked for even rep squads let alone the national team. Now it seems like his state is shifting him around too. Probably not what anyone would expect after they've scored runs.Maddinson fallen back a fair way by now I would have thought. Needed to be picked a couple years ago
What are you even on about, you are the one who grouped him in as one of the "next in line" for Tests. I wasn't saying anything other than the selectors appear to think otherwise. He was in the Aus A side of Sri Lanka so my (somewhat flippant) comment of him being miles off was an exaggeration, but conversely there are definitely a few other players who have got far more public discussion from McDonald, Bailey and others closely connected to the current Australian teamWho cares mate? A few days ago you wouldn't have had anything to rely upon as an opinion right? He's been good and for a while since he's moved. There's only 4 other batsmen in the PM's team and the situation is so fluid if you did the same selection exercise in a couple of weeks you'd probably have different players picked. Maddinson's done well enough to be spoken about as a candidate and for the good reason he's made runs. Now if he's lost form he'll get dropped. But right now he is at the higher end of players available when you look at what we've got playing shield.
You said he was miles off before you used his non selection for a particular squad at a particular time as some kind of back up. Next week if either Mad dog or someone like Caleb Jewel got a big hundred they'd both probably get picked for a squad. But really on previous form Mad dog would be the more deserving. Look I don't really care he missed out on the PM's team. But I do think he is one of the better batsmen playing shield and therefore closer to selection than most others. What are you even on about, you are the one who grouped him in as one of the "next in line" for Tests. In the team as a specialist nightwatchman.Surely Perry's place has to be under threat if he doesn't take wickets this match. He's been shocking this season.
Said 'particular squad' is probably reflective of the selectors' current thinking. Previous form decreases in relevance with time. Not performing now is going to be a bigger influence on his selection, especially as there's other batsmen with similar careers that can do the same role who are performing. You said he was miles off before you used his non selection for a particular squad at a particular time as some kind of back up. Speaking of questionable selections, Clayton has been hopeless this season as well. Surely you bring Street in soon.Surely Perry's place has to be under threat if he doesn't take wickets this match. He's been shocking this season.
I still don't get the whole dropping street thing. QLD cricket said it was for "the future of Aussie cricket." Or some bollocks like that so they let renners open over street, but they also picked burns, who's mid 30's and couldn't buy a grade run leading into the season and had as poor a season as street last year but unlike street didn't make runs for aus-A.Speaking of questionable selections, Clayton has been hopeless this season as well. Surely you bring Street in soon.
Yes, this has been raised by someone else and i've responded as best I can, thank you. My point is simply Maddinson is one of our best alternatives irrespective of present form and it's telling he, with others, can't beggar 20 runs between them.Said 'particular squad' is probably reflective of the selectors' current thinking. Saying you think he should be there or there abouts and saying he actually is are two very different statements.Yes, this has been raised by someone else and i've responded as best I can, thank you. Burns could bat 5.Street pretty much needs to open if he plays one would think. Realistically he wasn't dropped for Clayton at all, he was dropped to accommodate Renshaw moving back up the order, Clayton is more fighting with people like Sam Heazlett, Sam Truloff and whoever else who has played for the QLD 2nds in the middle order recently
That he actually is what? A test player? Close to selection? What exactly?Saying you think he should be there or there abouts and saying he actually is are two very different statements.
