NRR would be improved a lot more if they actually batted first and made 200 before shooting Afghanistan out for 60. It's not averaged out per match, it's just aggregated. Four overs for 60 on the batting ledger makes a smaller difference than 20 overs for 200.

I actually think Australia's biggest hopes ahead of that may be:
1. Rain in either NZ v Ireland or Sri Lanka v England
2. Sri Lanka beat England
What if SL smash England and go to six points and Aus get washed out? SL suddenly go through and England and Aus miss out. Would be hilarious

Am low key hoping this happens tbh. Would be about as funny an outcome as you could imagine

Yeah it does count as 20 overs bowled, but that happens in either situation. Adding 20 overs of batting and 200 overs of runs is going to have a bigger impact on the other side of the ledger than 60 in 4 overs or whatever. You don't want the Afghanistan game to only count for 9% of your batting instead of 20%. It's gonna count for ~20% of your bowling either way.
Haha I think you should check your numbers again here. For e.g. compare 1060 runs off 84 overs (i.e. 60 off 4) vs 1200 runs off 100 overs (200 off 20).

No way will we lose to Sri Lanka. Australia will have to break the World Record vs Afghanistan to qualify...... Not happening :)

Think Australia will be kicking themselves for letting ireland off the hook after having them 25-5. Should have bowled them out for sub 100.

Yeah they had a huge opportunity there but they just lost all focus about halfway through.

Might be a genuine tactic to not try and get guys like Finch, Bavuma, Nissanka, KW, Gulbadin etc out if their respective sides insist on playing them

Almost as funny if NZ-IRE gets washed out and England and Aus win their games. NZ will go out with just today's loss and likely the best NRR in the group. Of course if they lose to Ireland, won't deserve to make the semis anyway.

Kane of course will be the main talking point from the defeat, but the fielding let them down today as well.
