what are them with spinners such as Warne/Murali/Swann/Saqlain/Mushtaq/Macgill for sachin and include Bedi/Prasanna/Chandra/Iqbal/Qadir/Underwood for viv? Assuming it would become a lot closer
Tendulkar is the best batsman I have seen against spin bowling so I'd assume his record to be far greater

It's not evened out at all because the question is not about 3-4 extra points of batting average, the question is about whether Viv faced strong well rounded pace (+ maybe spin) attacks as often as Sachin or not - which wouldn't be a question at all if he had faced the WI attack.
He faced Pakistan with Wasim, Imran and Abdul. That's well rounded enough imo. And the point about the minnows is that he may not have faced any attacks quite as strong as Mcwarne or whomever but he also never faced absolute trash either like Zim and Bang.

As shown previously, Viv’s record in inner-island games isn’t very Viv like (sample size is big enough). But occasionally, he managed to score hundred against them. SRT also managed to play at least one ATG inning against Donald/ Wasim/ Waqaur/ McGrath etc. Smith got knocked over by Archer in the same inning twice but still managed to score double hundred in the next game.

No batsman has consistently fared well against quality pace. Part of the reason why I consider quality pace > quality spin.

I don't think Archer ever got Smith out? He pinned him in the head 1 innings but Smith still made 90-odd

Ponting was the best player of raw pace in 2000s. Sachin himself had stated no one could play a pull shot like Ponting.

I have seen at least three better than him. Shewag, Sidhu and Lara. Probably Azhar-ud-din and Salim Malik too.

I mean its domestic cricket mate , many times players rarely care about it , same reason Barrington averaged 58 in inrernational cricket and 45 in domestic and again Viv's stats in domestic are no worse then sachin's in matches involving a single McGrath so there is no reason to assume Sachin would've done much better then Viv in domestic against those bowlers , but when you take a look at Viv's stats on international level against the great bowlers he faced and then sachin's stats against great bowlers he faced its makes Viv's superiority against genuine pace clear cut.

I won't disagree with Tendulkar and Lara being better batsmen of spin then the 70s greats , but Viv's stats against Spinners is a lot better then I had originally expected as I always had this idea that viv struggled with spinners

Viv sucking against spinners is another myth on this forum.

Nah, Sachin was a mean machine. Doesn;t get bored. He would have amassed.

Neither did any other batsman from the 70s and 80s though
Fair rnough.

We don't appreciate that we have seen a generation of batsmen at their Zenith of playing spin in the whole cricket history, give that we had two best spinners in the history with half a dozen ATG ro very good spinners playing mid 90s to mid 00s..

That was the same assessment of Mike Gatting destroying spinners. reduced to rubbles by Kumble, Warne and Murali in the infancy of their careers.
Yeah but if someone didn't struggle against one class of spinners you don't have anything to suggest they would against better spinners until it actually happens
