Nah, Sachin was a mean machine. Doesn;t get bored. He would have amassed.
Hypothizing how he would've done against the great WI pacers of 70s in international is already hard , in domestic it would be almost impossible lol.

Yeah but if someone didn't struggle against one class of spinners you don't have anything to suggest they would against better spinners until it actually happens
Exactly. Gatting feated on Dilip Doshis and other "just about test quality" spinners, but was brought down by three young spinners who were yet to hit their best. Just because Viv didn;t struggle against lesser spinners provide no evidence how he would fared against elite spinners. So the assessment of Tandulkar played better quality spinners (by some margin) than what Viv played is the only conclusion we could take.

We have now ay to know whether SRT will ebsuccessful against them or not. But what we know is SRt never gets bored like Viv. When he gets in, he makes sure that he doesn't get out.

John Snow, Mike Hendrik, Willis and Underwood in that series, a very good attack.

I mean its domestic cricket mate , many times players rarely care about it ,
Don’t buy that logic. Especially the sample size is over 100 innings.

Ken averaged less in domestic because perhaps batting conditions were that much more difficult during those days in England being uncovered wickets and all. Look up the quality of English bowling attacks (too many bowlers averaging sub 25 during those days). And 50s saw some of the lowest batting averages in the history; similar to these days. There were too many sporting wickets from everything I have read.

Snow was at the fag end of his career and had fallen off from his peak (he retired the next season). Willis had just come back from his knee operations and hadn't sorted everything out yet. If you actually watch his bowling from that series he looks uncomfortable and out of rhythm and uses a nearly circular, very awkward run. He didn't adopt the straight one until next season. There was never a combined attack with Hendrick, whose fast-medium was probably blunted by the hot dry conditions anyway.

Don't know about that but Snow and Willis still managed to do well wicket-wise. I think if you add Underwood it is a quality attack overall, not just Viv feasting on a a limp English bowling lineup.

Hardly ATG level though. Tendulkar in the 90s faced better attacks on average.

I don't think the ATG claim was for that series though, that is more of an impressive runathon against a formidable attack like Smith 2019.

Viv's ATG mega series are in 79 against Lillee in Australia, in 80 against Imran in Pakistan and 84 against Hadlee at home. He also has an outstanding series against England in 80 with Willis, peak Botham and Hendrick.

The only thing Sachin has in perhaps 2011 against Steyn to compare as far as mega series featuring an ATG pacer.

the same Ken Barrington averaged 50+ in the same England over international bowlers from all around the world , meanwhile Peter May another Batsmen from the same era as Ken averaged 51 in first class cricket even though Barrington outbatted him in internationals.

Viv is still the best batsman I've ever seen, followed by his namesake Barry. I’m prepared to accept Lara, Tendulkar and Smith. The rest are gobblers.
Any opinion on Pollock? I am assuming you didn’t see much of him since he didn’t play county cricket.
