Cricketer Of The Year
We picked an unusually strong squad for this. I hope there are no Visa hitches like with the World Athletics Championships

Good to see a few of the quote/unquote lesser rugby nations getting a look in, although I do fear for Malaysia and Sri Lanka a little.
My Sri Lankan friends have told me that rugby is very popular in Sri Lanka. 120,000 registered players or something. But yeah, that doesn't seem to have translated into international success!

"Notable Sri Lankan players include Len Saverimutto, who is the father of scrum half Christian Saverimutto, who was capped three times for Ireland in the 1995–96 season."

"Sri Lanka is considered one of the rugby's success stories [citation needed], despite a modest win record on the international stage. Crowds of forty or fifty thousand have attended club games."

Malaysia really should be much better than they are at one of rugby or cricket. Like at least a Canada level rugby team or Bangladesh level cricket team

Do you even commonwealth bro
Absolutely. It's not because Malaysians don't like sports, they love them. It's more down to organisation and climate. That's why they tend to be good at individual sports played in air-conditioned stadiums like squash and badminton. There is a cultural aspect too and the ethnic division doesn't help. The hockey team is 100% Malay these days. The cricket team is mixed Malay and Indian. The badminton players are all Chinese.

I am disappointed Malaysia pulled the hockey team out to focus on Olympic qualification because they are an entertaining side but can't really blame them.

FTR the Commonwealth Games are an Imperialist anachronism but I still enjoy it.
