Shaw was scary in the powerplays on that SL tour while the Test side was playing in England. He didn’t kick on to make a big contribution but it was really fun to watch him rip into Chameera and co for a while.
He reminds me a lot of Phil Hughes. Young and talented, great at domestic level, has offered glimpses of what he can do in internationals but also exposed himself to criticism, somewhat iffy technique but capable of decimating bowling on his day. Hope he doesn't get too disenchanted with the long format; with Rohit having maybe two years max left, he could easily slot in as a long-term option. I'm actually more comfortable with him as opener than Gill.

No, both do but so do all the ranji players playing in India. For every Tendulkar and Dravid there is an Unmukt Chand and Reetinder Singh Sodhi. Enough with the hype already ffs.

He has 339 runs in effectively 4 Tests. I don't see the "hype". It's a plain case of not capitalizing on your assets and not deploying them when they are most likely to succeed. Did it with Kuldeep and effectively ruined his prospects, repeating it with Shaw.

Again, what makes Shaw that different from Gill who's playing right now to not deserve the hype? If it's about failing in one Test in Australia then that is frankly a ridiculous basis to judge LO cricket performance.

Let him succeed, till then it is all hype, like in the case of Unmukt Chand and Sodhi

If he is good enough, he will break the walls of Jericho and breakthrough, don't worry.

Idiotic reasoning. Hard to succeed when you don't get the chances and it's not like he's gotten much in recent times. Might as well say you hate Shaw and don't want to see him play for India again, would make far more sense.

I think that's our 3rd whitewash in a row (I might be wrong here).

It's really disheartening to see these guys just give up.

On a more positive note, Hetmyer's gonna be back soon.

Batting sucks. Bowling sucks. These guys (most of them) are used to only playing in a T20 game, and their whole mindset is corrupted by this. They don't know how to consolidate and re-build an innings. It's always hit, hit, hit, and $hit!

We had this series in the bag and somehow our lack of a cricket brain cost us...dearly

Brandon King played alright yesterday but he's got to go. Even his average of 26 flatters him - a third of his runs were scored against Netherlands.
