Idiotic reasoning. Hard to succeed when you don't get the chances and it's not like he's gotten much in recent times. Might as well say you hate Shaw and don't want to see him play for India again, would make far more sense.
Not every one gets chances all the time. Case in point: Arjun Tendulkar, Unmukt Chand. You have to impress and then you get the chances. I don't hate Shaw. As I said, it would be nice if he succeeds for India.

What’s the benefit to playing Dhawan over Shaw in these games?
Shaw’s proven himself domestically enough I reckon, and was also looking dangerous in the secondary teams we’d put out. And then randomly, despite his performances, he’s nowhere near the team again - not even in the squad or the B teams that play ODIs.

Maybe they thought Dhawan could still play a last wc and do us good. Dhawan is after all a proven odi player.

Gill would be gutted to miss maiden ton. Tbh he only had himself to blame.. Should have dispatched that Hossain free hit when he had the chance.
Siraj killed the game in first over itself. He is back to bowling seam up that made him so good in the first place. Pace is up as well.
I hope we see Umran at least in Zim series. He needs to play these bilaterals to improve rather than toiling for freakin J&K in domestics.

WI would fight hard in T20 series hopefully. Would like to see Arshdeep in there. Siraj is not in T20 squad but he should be much ahead ideally now than the likes of Avesh.
SkY had terrible 6 ODIs now & he always comes across as a T20 batsman to me & that's his format.
Pant/Kishan
Rohit
Hooda
SKY
Pandya
DK (maybe)
Jadeja
Harshal
Bhuvi
Bishnoi
Arshdeep

Tbh T20 side without Kohli looks very good.

I think that's our 3rd whitewash in a row (I might be wrong here).

It's really disheartening to see these guys just give up.

On a more positive note, Hetmyer's gonna be back soon.

Batting sucks. Bowling sucks. These guys (most of them) are used to only playing in a T20 game, and their whole mindset is corrupted by this. They don't know how to consolidate and re-build an innings. It's always hit, hit, hit, and $hit!

We had this series in the bag and somehow our lack of a cricket brain cost us...dearly
Tbh, the record in ODI's since the last CWC has been nothing short of abysmal, I think it's time CWI looked at replacing the coaching staff.

Player unavailability and retirements haven't helped but something needs to change and quickly.

Are you listening to what others are saying though? He has been impressing in every chance he has got. The next step is the odd international game. Which he never gets. He has technical issues but they are not so bad that he does not deserve to never play internationally.

also LOL at comparing Chand and that nepotistic **** Arjun Tendulkar to Shaw, a childhood prodigy and someone who has been whacking everyone for fun even years later. Shaw has more talent in his pinky finger than the two of them combined.

Lol at this repeated dishonest comparison. Shaw unlike those two has been generally impressive and not out of place in high level competition. He's at the very least made a strong case simply by dint of performance which Arjun probably never will be able to and Unmukt failed to for India. I do like how Arjun and Unmukt are the only examples you can pick, for totally unbiased reasons I am sure. And you've also impressively avoided the question of how Shaw can succeed for India without being picked. Surely to be able to succeed he must at the very least start getting more chances right? If you don't want that then it's clear you don't really care for cricket in the first place.

Unmukt never even impressed in domestic cricket & in fact was a massive failure. Shaw is a proven performer at domestic level like Gill. And in IPl as well.

Ehh, shaw's IPL numbers are pretty mid, 25 @150 isn't bad but its also not particularly flash. Only found his footing in ipl in the last 2 seasons.

Shaw's sucked in Ranji lately while others around him have dominated. His FC numbers have come down quite a bit. He gets starts in IPL but rarely gets going. It's unfortunate but I see why Gill has trumped him for now.

Yeah but he has several match winning performances under him. Unmukt never had any of that. Shaw had a horror IPl 2020 in UAE which has led to drop in average.

that is pretty much around Roy’s international numbers. now I‘m not saying he is barging on the door for selection ahead of others but he surely deserves a shot when he offers something radically different to every other option we have barring Rahul without run-rate or orange cap concerns.

keep him away from tests but he should be playing the odd white ball game here and there imo

The current Indian team badly needs an opener who can reproduce these figures at international level.

Are you listening to what I am saying? Indian ODI team isn't your nearby gully team where every one has a right to play all the time. If he is good enough, he will get a decent run and make it count.

FTR, from what I have seen of shaw, he hits the balls with a good punch and certainly there is some promise there. However, his game isn't very tight and hopefully he will improve over time.

Who said anything about rights to play here? You on the other hand seem determined to hand out rights not to play to anyone who fails anytime in any format without any proper reasoning. Sorry but this is still bullshit no matter how hard you try to pretend otherwise.
