A couple blokes got good balls early but pretty ordinary batting effort from every non-TPC/Labu batsman in the team. They need bringing back to Earth a bit, you can't just always go out there be ultra-aggressive against spin in the subcontinent or sweep/reverse sweep everything and expect consistent success. Glenn Maxwell's ton in India in 2017 is a great example. He didn't treat it like an ODI and bat like a maniac, he ground it out waiting for the chances to score. If he can rein himself in from being overly attacking then anyone can. Real shame he's being wasted on the bench in this series.
Who got out being too attacking in the top order though? Only Green in the top six got out cheaply playing an aggressive stroke and that was a perfectly fair stroke, just poorly executed. Carey's dismissal was a howler, but that was really the only one.

The articles after the first Test claiming they'd figured out how to be successful in the subcontinent were cringe beyond belief, as if no one had ever had the idea to play the sweep shot before.
They... weren't, though?

Swepson looks a lot more at home at test level now than just a couple of weeks ago.

i assume some of the Australian players have also stormed the palace and that's why we haven't taken a wicket for awhile?

Lack of discipline with the bat biting Aus on the arse here. Should have had 450 odd on the board

Whatever it takes!!!
Looks like the 2017 issue again. Prepped so well for the turners and dustbowls but then have no idea how to go about it in plain normal wickets. To be honest, can happen to many touring sides. India were like that a little bit back in 2014 in England IMO.

Reckon this match might get cancelled halfway through with all the revolts in Colombo overnight?
This will go ahead I think. The protests will probably come to and end now that the primary objective is achieved. Maybe people will actually watch a bit of cricket today.
