*Official* 2022 New Zealand Tour of England, Ireland, Scotland & Netherlands

Best case scenario is New Zealand to get bundled out for 220 in 2nd inngs to give themselves a chance to win game
220 with no Jamieson, not enough runs for 2nd new ball, and Root batting like Bradman. We'd be thrashed.

We have about 60 overs left today. Bat out the day and hopefully score at about 3.8 per over setting up a chase of 270 (similar to Lord's) off 90 overs. In reality get bowled out for 140 and lose by 7 wickets.

You know what.

I deleted my original text when writing the post of Latham (minnow basher)

You can't just rely on our every 3 year Asian tour to score runs against quality opposition. 80% of our games are in SENA conditions and he is barely better than Guptill against good teams in SENA.

People attack KW (prominence) or Nicholls (not aesthetic) for their flaws all the time but play a pretty drive and your crap goes unnoticed. He's over 30 so he is highly unlikely to ever get any better.

The weird thing is that Latham is getting better as a middle order white ball batter and worse as a test opener - although it seems mental as opposed to becoming a filthy slogger.

Michael Atherton reads CW right? People post that sometimes so it must be true.

Here's some stats for the commentary box bro. You know you want to take info from a random no name on the internet.

Tom Latham in SENA + WI against non-Bang/Zim/SL

40 matches, 1894 @ 27.85. 1 hundred.

Michael Bracewell PS last year

5 matches, 190 @ 19 batting 7 @ 57 bowling. Career stats speak for themselves.

Haha I believe he once said on air that he'd read posts from @Prince EWS ? Going back more than a decade now though I reckon
do you remember his thoughts on them?

tbf pews wrote a few good posts. Longevity theory has gone far too far on this website and is big team and workhorse biasing AIDS but either he or uppercut posted a defence of modern players and a deconstruction of the checklisting theory (sehwag the example) that I whole heartedly agree with. It is arguably the best analysis on this website.

So you don't think it might have been better to bat until the end of today/hour before closing and try get 150 ahead where NZ would have been under huge pressure? As opposed to them now being 20 runs ahead and maybe putting England under huge pressure lunch time tomorrow?
It was never happening once Root was out so I was trying to be positive.?

We should have attempted to get a lead and put them under pressure. I predicted an hour before play that we'd have a swing and try to get close and then attempt to bowl them out. All this maverick approach is all very well, but occasionally conventional Test Cricket might just be the better option.
I will of course delete both posts if we win from here. :tooth:

When will the selectors recognise Leach is a very poor bowler.New zealands Bracewell who is a part timer is better!.I can’t remember him beating the batsman ever.Bring back Ali and that is only slightly better .Why has stokes not tried Root

I always felt Dom Bess was a better bowler, sure he bowls too many full tosses but when he gets his length right he can be threatening.
