Why the massive difference between Holder at home and Holder away?

So the introduction of the Dukes ball has improved our seam bowling generally, but there has been a knock on effect in overseas tests. Kemar Roach and Jason Holder have struggled massively with the Kookaburra ball. Only Shannon Gabriel does well overseas comparatively, I guess because pace is pace and he is less reliant on movement.

Batting is my one bugbear with Jason tbh. He needs to bat at 6 now. With that technique and skill he should be averaging close to 40 in tests, especially as the emergence of a gun like Seales means our bowling will be less reliant on him.

Think the others have answered your query well enough, though I'll also add that away from home WI in general are poorer in both disciplines against most of the Test nations, which also plays a bit into one's statistics away from home.

This innings has been a really strange mix of terrible batting from the West Indies and solid defiance. There hasn't been much middle ground.
