Is that statistically the greatest all-round performance ever? Within touching distance of the all-rounder's holy grail (200, 10fer) and could've easily had it under a more "generous" captain. No dig against Rohit, you play to win obviously.

Davidson's 44, 80, 5fer and 6fer in the tied test has always been my personal favourite. But I think this just eclipses it. Jadeja was unbeaten on a daddy ton, you're not meant to then take 9 wickets after that

If anything it was Jadeja who was more generous considering he apparently wanted the declaration and overs given to Jayant to get him some rhythm.

Mushtaq Mohammed vs wi and Botham in the jubilee test vs India probably the two best.

This one also absurdly good though. Jadeja basically could've beat SL by himself with 10 cwers for teammates.

He is supreme athlete & should easily play for further 4-5 years easily. But with Ash on his last legs we need to groom someone else as well.
I feel opposite. Jadeja has already suffered too many many injuries. I will be pleasantly surprised if he can continue for 4-5 years.

Ash on the hand; I reckon he will play till he is 38-39 like Herath.

Knees and back are what do you in. There's usually some kind of serviceable way back from most other injuries.

Still feel we don't need him in T20Is beyond this WT20 & always has been average in ODI cricket. Being a Test specialist will do the job. But highly unlikely he will go that way.

I don't mind if he does franchise + Tests. Better than doing franchise + LOIs.

Not sure what replacement we have though - did you watch the last T20 he played? He's not easily replaced, particularly his hitting (and fielding).
Also, he has been average in ODI cricket. In the past. This is very important.

He was a relatively average bat/allrounder in the past too.

Jadeja's T20I record is meh.. Still feel with Hardik not bowling & his hitting is even worse these days than Jaddu.. Jadeja can serve his purpose at least till this WT20.
Beyond that we have Raj Bawa as a fast bowling all rounder & potential Ben Stokes level. He will be ready eventually.
Others like Abhishek Sharma is one guy who can do the job or can be groomed. He will open for SRH this season though.

In ODI cricket Two wrist spinners are the way to go in WC 2023 I think. Jaddu will probably still make it if a replacement is not ready.

Again, that's cos you're looking at the past. It really isn't relevant to what he's like as a T20 player now. On top of which, he's a gun fielder.

Check what's been doing for CSK last few seasons. His record for India once you look past the early years is also very good - not too many matches though.

Since 2014:
Average of 31.5 (vs average of 21.73 overall), S/R of 144.82 (vs S/R of 124.42 overall).

His early years really hurt him if you are looking at 'overall average' and concluding Jadeja isn't a very good T20 player - because that's not really relevant to the player he is since post 2014 certainly, and especially since post 2016 or whatever.

neither of these guys are as good as you're making them out to be.
