Yeah, not a fan of that move. The trouble with his success is there’s a feeling that he should move up the order.
Its a usual mistake we see all the time across all the teams. Allrounder/wicketkeeper bats brilliantly and plays a lot of shots in 6/7. Immediately bump him up the order/play him as a pure batsman. It does not always work out. I suppose the best shot for such moves is still T20s but Shanaka/Hasaranga/Karunaratne should always be your 6-8, not anywhere above that.

Salvaged a little by Wade in the end.
Wasted down at 7, one of the best 2 or 3 T20 bats in this team. Aus clearly seeing this series as an experimental opportunity rather than a "play the best team/formulation to win" scenario though and that's understandable. No way McDermott and Inglis bat top 3 and Stoinis and Wade bat 6 and 7 if they were having a proper crack.
