***Official*** Sri Lanka in Australia (T20s) Feb 2022

International Debutant
None of the 4 matches at the MCG/SCG managed to reach an 18k attendance; amazing decline from what pretty much any T20 international in Oz used to get 5-10 years ago.

Lot of reasons for this but one prime one is how Oz regularly use these series to rest their regulars, even after the ODIs were cancelled. Why do the likes of Warner get to 'rest' the entire series when he's played so little international cricket past 12 months and is of course going to play IPL for private benefit in a few months time?

Josh Hazlewood being rested from the last few matches when he missed almost the entire Ashes series seems even more incongruous.

I guess the justification is to rest them for the Pakistan tour but it just makes series like this a pointless exercise; containing an Oz side which has hardly any players from last year's T20 WC or probably many reps from the upcoming WC.

The Oz public is giving series like this the disrespect they deserve.

I don't think all cricket needs to exist for the purpose of the fans. Series like these are great for progression planning and the continued development of Australia's bench strength, plus providing more income and financial stability to all the personnel involved. JAM T2OI and ODI series need to exist IMO.

You want them to play Warner, Marsh and all the bowlers every game of the series and win every game by 80+ runs? What good does that do either team? At least it made some of the games mildly competitive.

And let's be honest, it was always going to be a "pointless exercise"
