I like how Utd's struggles (which are obviously very funny) are now being used by some to pedal a "Ronaldo isn't good" narrative

I get that he might have an unharmonious impact on the dressing room or club or whatever, and/or how he either does or does not fit into whatever system

but the emerging narrative that this is a player who is somehow over the hill/not good or whatever (rather than a literal super athlete who's scored more than 100 goals in the last three years) is bonkers

Same type of thing re: Thierry whenever we bottled it in Europe. The rest of the team could've been ass but it'd all be about him in the post mortem.

I get that there are much bigger problems at the club, but I think that narrative is probably slightly more true than it is false. He's been a 6/10 striker. We're no better when he doesn't play, but we're no worse either. He was supposed to immediately take the side to the next level, possibly at the expense of finding a long-term solution up front, and at this point it's very hard to make a case that signing him was a good idea.

Nobodies pedalling "he's no good", we know he's definitely one of the great finishers in the game. Yet you can't play a high press with him, which is what rangnick wants, and has been appointed for presumably.

As Uppercut said, he hasn't taken them to the next level as he was signed for, and is arguably hindering Rashford and certainly Greenwood, who looked like he was ready to take the next step at the start of the season.

He's not a player United need IMHO, with Greenwood, Sancho, Cavani, Rashford at the club, oh and I suppose Lingard too.

But hey long may it continue.

Don't get me started on bad decisions or I'll go back to Cambridge 2nd round. could well have not had their Glory day at the other St James Park, could have been us.

Some might say it served us right after again the refs made a mistake(they said it was alright to both managers) by allowing us to play too many subs in the previous round, but in the replay that we one we lost Our top scorer through injury and have been in free-fall since, it's all been a bit ****, certainly compared to Cambridge's experience.

Just me who think Brighton are hard done by there? Maupay pulls out the challenge and Butland drops it as a result of diving into him.

Well I sniff a first automatic promotion since 1989 and we will be undoing the greatest football injustice of all time in the process, go on you whites

We took our first real hiding of the season today. The 4-2 score line flattered us greatly. Yet we moved up from 7th to 6th after Oxford lost. Interestingly both teams have the same points, goal difference, goals scored and goals against. They would be ahead on the old alphabetical order policy. We've played one game less so the separator must be PPG. :tooth:

Apparently Rooney and Lampard I'm running to replace him lol
Rooney is an obvious link and to be fair to him he is doing a brilliant job at Derby or is Rosenior his number 2 who is behind it. Good grounding for a shambolic club with no cash too. As for Lampard, why would he take that job?

Either would be a better choice than Big Dunc though you would think.
