All time world test XI selection

Still believe Sobers should be an automatic selection.

He is similarly ahead of his peers and as an all round package, (batting, bowling, catching) at least in my mind, the equal to Bradman.

That aside, this round of voting is a bit confusing. Because of the format, and slight ambiguity it's causing persons to vote with differing objectives.

Kallis is up there in same level as Sobers.

Days of Grace

International Captain
Sobers at 6
Imran at 8.

I figured Imran will be better coming on at first change instead of Hadlee, who is a new ball bowler. Imran will also get the ball reverse swinging so the team will have a weapon from overs 1 to 80.

How though?

Sobers is without doubt a top 5 batsman of all times and arguably the best after Bradman, Kallis isn't.
Sobers did everything from open the bowling to bowl left arm chinamen and performed every role from strike bowler to stop bowler. Kallis was nothing more than a 5th bowler, though an excellent knew he was. But just look at the difference in work loads.

Sobers was peerless in the field, in the same league as Hammond, Simpson etc in the slips. Kallis while just as secure, wasn't quite as brilliant, through excellent he was.

I saw Sobers bat.He was better batsman for sure.
But Kallis matched sobers as a bowler, almost as a batsman and as a fielder.Cant be in different level if you don’t have much better stats in any of 3 departments. The stats don’t show sobers was in different level.
Kallis
13000+ runs at 55
292 wkts at 32
200 catches
Sobers
8000+ runs at 57
235 wkts at 34
109 catches
Doesnt look in different level.Sobers>=kallis.But not in different level or anything close to different level.

Ok, so you admit he's a better batsman.

Sobers started his career as a 18 year old left arm spinner batting at no. 8. When he finally started bowling the quicker stuff he fully evolved and improved as bowler. It's not just the work load and the variety, as a fast bowler he was so much more to his team than Kallis ever was.

But you ignore context and look purely at stats

And the most important part, he's a top 5 batsman on top of everything else, he can make the team as a batsman alone before we look at the bowling and fielding. He is a lock for this or any possible team.

I believe he's just being contrarian for the sake of it at this point.

Imran

Edit, changed my vote from the Prince of Port of Spain to Sir Garry
