It's saying something that we keep clocking wins despite a crocked middle order. Lucky to have at least one opener making decent contributions on the regular and useful runs from Pant on downwards. The flip side to that equation is that a total collapse is never off the charts and that should keep SA interested. Winning two on the bounce might be too much for a side this green against an Indian team that now knows how to win abroad and likes it, but a 1-2 result would be entirely respectable and something to build on.
Shows you the difference a gun bowling attack makes. Our batting during the 90s and early 00s was better but we couldn't do **** because of our bowlers.

What a sic bowling line up India have. Continues to boggle my mind and they keep delivering. Bowlers win India games that they have no right to win given the batting. Also, openers being productive really helps. The middle order, always packed with prima donnas in any side, is being rightfully shown up as the least important part of any team. You sort out the openers, the wk bat, and the bowling, and you will win more often than not.

^And they deserve to play more too. Fine raw material on display in this game and there's more waiting in the wings judging from SA fans in this thread. A guy like Jansen for eg. will only get better and stronger the more he plays. Handy with the bat too. You can build a team around players like that.

It has hurt SA particularly because we trying to build a team. Its becomes a very different team both selection and experience wise if we had another 10 or 15 tests in the last 3 years. But the team just needs to keep going and accept.
I am sure we will get those missing Australian tests soon right :whistling:whistling

I have never once understood why teams lacking tests can't just take the 22 top players in the country and play a proper series. It will be interesting, good practice and the players can choose how hard they want to go about it.

If it is the home season, then there is domestic commitments.

Temba should ask our R5 million a year DOC what he is doing to get them games. He also needs to answer why our ladies have had hardly any games with the wc coming up next year.

Apparently 2023 per an interview of Nick Hockley in October. Whatever happened of taking them on about it at the ICC? Was that also just bluster for the media.
I think so, but that other issue came up.... :no2::no2: which trumps everything

Not gonna blame Smith to much for this... I don't know for sure but I suspect that its his good work that allowed this tour to go ahead. He is respected by many of the higher ups in the boards. I do also think an effort is being made with regards to the womens games.

SA were truly privileged to have the test team they did from 06 to 2014 with some wonderful performances be it sporadic which culminated in 2018. Unfortunately one has to draw comparisons to what has come before and from what I've seen this test match the Proteas will remain at the lower levels of the table.

Although they got 20 wickets, the bowling looked flat to me. No fire or intensity. Poor body language on the field. Rabada has to spear head this attack.

The batting looks dismal. No sense of security (apart from Elgar and Bavuma) you feel a wicket is gonna come at any moment. No match awareness. De kock is a senior player with no test match temperament. I see no willingness to make the opposition earn the wicket. No grit and no skill. If you feel a loss of the cards fight for the draw and go into the next test with some pride. It's probably the weakest SA team to be fielded since readmission.

I see a bunch of content players with no " Protea Fire" whatsoever. When you play any team let alone the magnificent beast that is Team India you should fight for every inch.

I predicted a white wash in favour of India if the SA top order don't score big and seems like it's on the cards.

I hope these guys prove me wrong.
