He was recovering from an injury, and wasn't really called on that much as a proper wicket-taking option.
true story but he still bowled a bit in every test, and had many chances.not snagging one was remarkable.
funny game cricket where someone can bowl crap and get 2 quick wickets, others bowl OK and don't get a sausage for a reward.

Whatever it takes!!!
I think they could have enforced it but I am not too fussed they did not. Everyone has been spooked by the ghosts of Eden Gardens. India did not enforce the follow on when NZ were like 62 all out. We juz gotta accept this is how modern captains are gonna act now. Its not gonna change the result either way, unfortunately.

On another note, England really have to try out more of their high ceiling players than just keeping up with Haseebs and Popes.

I think the latter part of my point holds here. Don't think they really planned that well to use him as a bowler last time. This time round he's clearly learnt a bit more and the coaching staff seems to have a plan for him to follow.

I honestly think Crawley and Lawrence are that. And I have said that many times here. You gotta trust some of these guys coz they can get you big runs at decent pace in places like Australia. England is the breeding ground of the crucial 30s and 40s. Batsmen with that mindset are not gonna help you elsewhere, except perhaps NZ and Windies where they use the Dukes for some reason.

aus selectors hate to change a winning team. if they're up 2-0, they're not dropping harris for usman. the head selector is currently george bailey, a guy who personifies that tradition
If that's true and I have no reason to believe it's not, don't you think its a wee bit PEDESTRIAN from them?
He's going OK at the moment Harris, but if he got nothing how could he be auto for the 3rd test.
Who was the last Australian opener to get 12 test chances and average as low as he does, no names come to mind.
This debate could be finished when Marcus brings up 150 and the declaration follows.
