How long does everyone reckon the hundred Harris is about to score in this innings will keep him in the team?

Should have enforced the follow on.

Have given England a slightly better chance of a draw here.

If follow on had been enforced England would have had to bat 150+ overs --batting till at least halfway into day 5 to secure the match (15+overs today, 90 overs on day 4 and 45+ overs on day 5) .

150+ overs, ~450 runs, lead ~200

Now they need to bat out up to 130 overs instead of 150 overs, as Australia will bat another 50+ overs tomorrow.

So not enforcing the follow on has made it a little easier for England to draw the match. Still Aus should win comfortably but just saying.

You'd have to think so, hanging on another 2 years for a swann song could be a very foolish move.
In an ideal world, Jimmy would have retired at the end of the English summer. Not that I can name a decent alternative, but you want your champions to go out on a happier note than this tour.

I mean, if Harris is going to make runs, and he hasn’t yet, I at least hope it leads to him kicking on to a decent career.

lol Fmd then the run out. Only way they looked like getting a wicket

Harris should've volunteered to walk off. Sold Warner up the river.

EDIT: Was probably Warner's fault. But still.

I think England do need to move on from Broad and Anderson, but it would be a pretty horrible end to their Test careers as only weather is preventing a whitewash. I wouldn't even say England are in a transitional state as you need to have an established side for that to happen, but I seriously can only see Root and Robinson as likely starters for England in say, two years time.
