You've hit the nail on the head for me.I thought the opposite actually, there was a bit of seam but pretty substantial extra bounce, but the ball did absolutely nothing in the air.
Tbh a lot of the dismissals were classic "haven't had enough practice on bouncy Australian pitches" dismissals. Tentative footwork, pushing with the hands etc.
Apparently Anderson was right on the line fitness-wise; fair enough if so. But leaving out Broad on this pitch is absolutely bonkers.
Yeah he is like sunshine. I bet everyone feels very safe around him. Also a dead set ATG in the making not a borderline oneIt's going to be really difficult rooting against the Aussies with Cummins in charge. Probably my favorite bowler right now along with Bumrah.
Isn't Woakes a medium pacer, almost a poor man's Ben Stokes?Woakes could be the key imo
Woakes is very handy in right conditions. Anderson was preserved for Adelaide assuming he'll be most effective there. They say there's a risk of a potential injury and i get it. Agree with you re Broad. These are ideal conditions for him to produce one of those meme spells. I just dont get how Wood is preferred over him. Don't rate wood much as a test bowler and even then, i think he is better off on flatter wickets.Isn't Woakes a medium pacer, almost a poor man's Ben Stokes?
That's what he was a few years ago.
I just can't imagine why Anderson and Broad wouldn't be in, yet Woakes would.
Almost sure Wood offers more with the bat now than Broad, except comedy value perhaps.Plus Broad adds with the bat
Yeah - hard hands and playing 5th/6th stump line on a reasonably quick and bouncy track got England nutted, not excessive sideways movement.agree tbh; it felt as if a lot of the movement was through the air, not off the wicket, and that a couple of the wickets were on some pretty dicey batsmanship from some clearly in over their heads bats
Wood can have all the pace he likes - he’s so ineffective even Shreyas Iyer laughs at himI like Wood offering some serious pace as an option
Yeah it has springs in it but I feel it would assist bowlers who kiss the surface like Hazlewood and Robinson rather than those who bang it in. There's also some lateral movement on offer. Obviously I haven't seen an awful lot of wood but from the little I've seen, he likes to bang it in or go real full. I don't really consider him as someone who would exploit friendly conditionsThe pitch looks to me like it'll suit Wood. Everyone is saying the bounce isn't too pronounced but I haven't seen any Australian cricket in ages and it looks to me like they're playing on a trampoline. Just nothing like the home pitches Wood is useless on.
BuggerBright and sunny
He's a marketing dream isn't heIt's going to be really difficult rooting against the Aussies with Cummins in charge. Probably my favorite bowler right now along with Bumrah.
