The "Can't believe they lost from there" Thread

Whatever it takes!!!
In honour of the "choked so bad we can't even call it a choke" effort yesterday by the Punjab Kings.

For anyone who had not followed the IPL or yesterday's game, Rajasthan Royals were all out of 185, bowled out off the last ball of the 20th over. In reply, Punjab Kings had a 100 run opening stand and needed 10 off 15, and then 8 off 12 with 8 wickets in hand with well set internationals Markram and Pooran at the crease, both batting on 30 odd at SRs above 130 for both. There was nothing peculiar about the track and the only discussion even in the comm box was about the Net Run Rate.

And yet, something strange happened. Fizz bowled the penultimate over and gave away 4. Still not bad. They needed 4 off the last over with 8 wickets hand and two well set international batsmen at the crease. And Royals had to go to a U19 rookie for the last over. And somehow, they still LOST.

IF anyone can, please check out the highlights on iplt20.com.

That game last season where rahul was 65* in the 19th over needing less than run a ball and they ****ed it up was also hilarious. A few of Australia's effort's recently come to mind. 1st t20 vs WI, 1st t20 vs england, 2nd odi vs england, 3rd test vs india to name a few.

Pakistan did a good choke vs NZ in UAE a few years back. Should have won at a canter.

Well there's the small manner of Headingley 2019... though I could believe that one, and actually thought it might happen before it did. Didn't make it any less painful though.

I always thought this effort from Panicstan was good. Rubbish batsmen at the crease? Yes, but you'd think Glenn Maxwell might be get away able for a couple... as in they literally needed two.

A great thread for NZ fans. Let's start with the big guns:

Full Scorecard of New Zealand vs England 2nd Test 2008 - Score Report | ESPNcricinfo.com

NZ bat first and thanks to a magnificent hundred by Ross Taylor and a fighting 50 from Kyle Mills, score 381. Daniel Vettori and Iain O'Brien then go to work on a rapidly drying pitch and proceed to reduce England to 8/179 with the real prospect of enforcing the follow on. Stuart Broad slogs some arsey runs and gets England to 200, but the lead is surely decisive on a pitch where even Vettori is extracting turn and England have to bat last. NZ build a wobbly but credible start, reaching 85/2 when all hell breaks loose. Monty starts getting the ball to turn square and NZ's batsmen - clearly shaken up - crumble like a house of cards. 85/2 becomes 114 all out in the span of 17 overs. Still, England's target is imposing: 294 on a surface where the spinners have taken 11/103 in the previous 2 innings. But Vettori finds precisely none of the turn that was so prevalent over the prior 2 days, and England end up strolling home only 4 down (one of them a run out).

Yep, 46 runs to win with 7 wickets in hand (and then 29 to win with 6 in hand). Pretty sure the comms dusted off the old "too little too late" cliche when the 4th wicket fell.

NZ getting Waqared and Wasimed chasing 4th innings about 110ish in 93.but, actually also very believable.
Waqar's ball to clean up Rod Latham was a thing of beauty. Rod looked like he was batting in slow motion.
