Some comm talked about committing to big fifth day chases. It's a big jump, from talking about what could happen at the end of Day 4 to actually going for it. The current RRR is slightly above 3.7, but that's kind of misleading as they can't score many against Jajeda bowling into the leg-side rough against the right-handers. Throw in Hameed's lack of scoring options, and England won't be getting close to winning this one. To be fair to Hameed, if he finishes with an unbeaten 90 that helps secure a draw, I won't be complaining.

His 50 to 100 conversion rate was up/down there with pre-imperial phase Root.

Thorpe was a bit like that, but not to the extent that you described. He went through a phase of regularly making half centuries but not going on with it.

Out of the 5-6 we’ve produced who’ve played at least a test, 3 (Azhar, VVS, Rohit) are some of the classiest stroke makers you’d ever see.
