Its the other side of test cricket sadly.
Unless you are English, a test fanatic, dislike India immensely or have bet on this then what's the point of watching ?
Shame as we have had some really good tests recently, but this was over before tea on the first day.
I tend to flick these games on when they're scheduled like this as the first few days are between footy matches here in winter. Basically just watch because it's test cricket between two established sides in what can be challenging conditions.
It's just such a discordant scoreline to read. 400+ plays double digits just looks so weird. But I really don't mind who loses this match or series, because if either of these sides are losing it's a win for all good people everywhere.
These series are interesting from a personal POV, because there's the obvious natural hatred of England. They're just a terrible sporting nation and people who have a win in something every 20-30 years then think it's 1826 again and they're ruling the world, when really they're just mediocrity in the form of an entire nation which consistently under-performs given their large, diverse population and long established first-world resources. And tbh James Anderson is probably the least likable cricketer I've seen in my time watching the game. The bloke has tissue paper for skin and resents copping back precisely what he's happy to dish out.
Then you have India, the new-monied trash of world cricket. I actually quite like their side and a lot of their players these days tbh. Now they have decent quicks they're a great watch, and I've even started warming a bit to Kohli, who's brash but plainly prioritizes playing test cricket for his country and gets over heated at times, but a great player. Obviously Jadeja is massively over rated because he's a finger spinner and Ashwin can't even consistently make their side, but aside from them, they're ok. It's just their supporters are basically the worst sports fans in the world, as is so often reflected on this very forum.
So it's difficult, because obviously as a decent person you want England to lose, but at the same time you want the usual suspects on here wallowing in misery.
It's a tough watch. Hopefully a 2-2 draw and no one really happy.
