Good to see his pace his still up there (topping out at 151 last night). Seems to be a lot more selective with how quick he bowls these days which is good.

Ah, Finn Allen is in Bangladesh already. Along with CdG.

I see Allen has been replaced in IPL part two by Tim David.

That may be quite some sacrifice? Not sure how much game time ge would have got and how the payments work. But even future contracts etc. Anyway, actually playing is the best way to advance a career.

im milnes OG fan but im not going to leap on a hype train based on the hundred.

he's always been a gun t20 bowler though, and should be around the odi side since Worlds Fastest Gavin Larsen.

Milne has always been quality I really DGAF what people say, he's always had the ability to swing the ball at pace. He is better than Ferguson, it is known.

True, but having watched him intently in all of his BBL games, his speeds now seem up by 3-4kms on average since then, plus he's really developed & mastered his slower knuckle ball which wasn't coming out as well in Oz. Form of his life, just hoping like hell he doesn't break down again because he's due.

Either way, both should be the first 2 pace bowling picks when it comes to our best T20I side. I think both are now better T20 bowlers than Boult.

Nah, for whatever reason Ferguson seems to surprise batsmen more with bounce, and just generally hurries them for pace more. Something about their respective actions I guess. Of course it's hard to know how good Milne might get because his career has been so blighted with injuries that he's never had the chance to build up much rhythm and learn what works for him.

Would be great to see Lockie, Milne and Sears play together but I guess that'll just not happen. Would be awesome to see three bowlers over 140 ticks (on a good day for Milne) with support from Kyle. Maybe we will within the next couple of years if the covid continues without abating.

Time to start picking the team for the 1st T20I vs Bangladesh? The team must have left today.

My team for the first couple of matches

Allen
Ravindra
Young
Nicholls
Latham
Blundell (WK)
CDG
McConchie
Ajaz
Sears
Bennett

That's not a bad team on paper. Maybe batting strong but most of the top order are very good players of spin.

Not playing : Kuggs, Tickener and Doug

They leave tonight

I suspect only one of CDG and McConchie would play and one of those others to slot in at 8

I think they'll play Rachin, Cole and Ajaz in all games. They'll probably rotate the fast bowlers. Not a bad idea to play both CDG and Doug. They're both a bit slower and with pitch holding they can be handy.

Will be interesting to see how Sears goes. If my understanding is correct he's basically been playing as an amateur for the past couple seasons while balancing his law studies, so asking him to play in August might not see him in peak match fitness. Hope he goes well.

At a guess, they probably shoulder-tapped him last summer and told him he was in the frame - especially as they knew these tours would be affected by guys in the IPL.

Anyone know much about this Tim David guy? I'd never heard of him until recently, now I see he scored two nuts 100s in the 50-over comp in the UK, and his T20 record looks outstanding (without looking too deep into who he's played for or against). Pretty amazing if he's emerged out of Singapore

I think he is English/Aussie or Aussie/English.

I clicked on him a few days ago, recall it said started playing cricket aged 8 in Australia. Then something about playing in England but can't remember age, may have been young adult.

But he's been playing associate cricket for Singapore.

He’s basically Australian. Grew up for a very short part of his early life in Singapore before his family moved back to Australia.

He’s obviously Singapore’s best batsman (bowls a bit too) but is used by most franchise teams as a finisher. Bombs big sixes and generally does not waste balls even if he gets out for low scores.

Done decently in the BBL, very well in the PSL and didn’t get much of a chance in the Hundred but was quite instrumental in the final.

Doubt he’ll ever choose country over one of his franchises but we’ll see. By all accounts a great guy.

Pretty cool that we have two guys operating at 150km/ph available to be picked. And someone in Sears that potentially could go close.

I saw an article the other day bemoaning the amount of out and out quicks around...but to me, we're getting back to a place where there's a decent stock of them around the world.

These upcoming tours remind me a bit of the Pakistan tour of 2003 when most of the top team was unavailable.

This one:

Why was everyone unavailable for that tour? Anyone remember? I thought it was that this was the make-up tour for the bombed out one in 2001/02, but that was actually caught up with by a full replacement tour later in 2002 with most/all players available .
