Whatever it takes!!!
Any chance of further play today?
Not sure of SKY at 3. May be Pujara dropped and Rahane to 3 with SKY or Gill at 5 can work.SKY is the answer
I was half joking but honestly, SKY at 5 can work. Rahane at 3 can work too, coz right now being the last specialist batsman seems like something he can't handle and has been this way since about 2016 for whatever reason. I just wish we had more left handed batsmen, instead of all of them just being wicket keepers or spin-allrounders.Not sure of SKY at 3. May be Pujara dropped and Rahane to 3 with SKY or Gill at 5 can work.
Rahane is averaging like 41 now. I always felt he was a late 40s average kinda guy. I get that we've had a few years of ball dominating a bit, but still.Rahane's actually been in the "best" form among those three over the last couple of years. I dont think there are many great middle order prospects trying to kick the door down either which is worrying.
Rain is forecast for the rest of the day.Any chance of further play today?
Certainly the batting lineup overall is way better. But England (and NZ) is the worst place for Indian batsmen. Then you add that most of them are not in form. And then add that the other side has home conditions. That's a ****load better batting line up than England's tbh.
The absolutely key player for England this series is Rory Burns. If he doesn't score at least reasonably heavy at the top they're ****ed. The rest of that batting side is middling FC standard at best, Root excepted.
This. India fans are certainly overly pessimistic (especially when they become pessimistic at home) but it's weird to call them pessimistic for this. Literally has been happening as long as India have been playing Tests.Downplaying how bad indias batsmen are at playing swing pre series, call us overly pessimistic and then do a shocked Pikachu when india keep getting bowled out for sub 300 every game. I'm surprised Cw hasn't gotten tired of this routine yet good god.
Almost as funny as when he stood his ground after being clean bowled by Moeen in Chennai.Cannot express how funny Kohli looked standing watching the umpire after smashing his first ball to the keeper.
I'm old enough to remember their was serious hype when he came into the test team as he had a monster first class record.Rahane's been an embarrassment for a long time now, but this batting lineup's cooked in general. He and Pujara better be put on notice if they continue laying eggs this tour.
He was legitimately awesome first 2 years or so. After that consistent mediocrity.I'm old enough to remember their was serious hype when he came into the test team as he had a monster first class record.
However its been a so-so test career hasn't it?
People can write about some of his best knocks and their has been some gorgeous ones, but I would bet in many of those series their was plenty of failures also.
He also ultimately failed when he moved the order and had to scurry back to number 5 slot.
I don't know where his stats stand/float in the sea of mediocrity around him these last two years, but for a guy with as much experience and the VCaptaincy to boot, he's having awful brainfades virtually every game he plays. Who's reassured watching him walk out to the middle?I'm old enough to remember their was serious hype when he came into the test team as he had a monster first class record.
