53 years and counting since one Naftali Temu had the nerve to outkick an Ethiopian down the stretch in the men's 10k, and the world has not stopped paying for it since.

Also why do these commentators still pronounce the names of African competitors like they were in European languages

Looks like it. There have been a few 1-2 finishes so far (ROC/USA in the swimming, China in trampolining, Sweden in the discus etc) but the majority of events haven't even had three people from the same nation anywhere close to contesting medals.

Honestly I thought that was not allowed (i.e. only two per country could compete). Or is that just swimming?

Speaking of swimming, the dominance from our females feels comparable to the dominance from our males circa 2000.
