Spavor gets Waters a few balls later, and Kovrig holds onto the next catch hit to him to get rid of McGrath. 35/2 in 4.

After 4 weeks we have 31 YPs as per my records. The leaders in each category are:

Best Batter - highest total Batting potentials
Haroon Mateen (Moooo) - total 40 potential

Best Bowler - highest total Bowling potentials
Hasmukh Sashti (Team Seven) - total 42 potential

Best Allrounder - highest total Batting + Bowling potentials, with a minimum of 38 total potential in each discipline
Ahsan Hafeez (GG CC) - Total 82 potential (40 bat + 42 bwl)

Best Wicketkeeper - highest total Wicketkeeping + Batting potentials, with a minimum of 12 keeping potential
Nilan Ramanuja (Omkar Cricket Club) - Total 55 potential (43 bat + 12 keep)

Worst Youth Pull - lowest total potential of all skills combined
Amir Azhar (Bowled Over) - Total 76 potential

Nilan is the best batter and wicketkeeper. IMO the next best player in the batters category is a better player than next best for the keeper category, so therefore I've given Nilan the award of best keeper for now.

The best bowler so far is actually Aslam Majid from Omkar Cricket Club, but since OCC are already winning an award, I've picked the next best player available for that category.

Sajjid Rabani has only 36 bat potential and 29 bowl potential. Rates low overall. But he'll be a very good Dev League cricketer for you, I'd hang onto him.

EDIT: The above doesn't include yesterday's YPs. I haven't gone through them yet.

Morpok were cruising at 113/2 in 13.5 overs. Then Marita played an awful shot to Shum, and Rowan received a jaffa from Wong, both in the space of 3 deliveries.

Mthabela and Van Heerdens added 31 runs in the next 23 balls, which left them needing just 3 more runs in the final 2 overs. One hit away from victory.

In searching for that hit, Mthabela dragged on - a good delivery from the wily veteran Pong Nam. Fouche then played and missed at his first ball which, unfortunately for him, was right on the sticks.

Losing two quick wickets twice in that final 3rd of the game is what brought this winning margin much closer than it had any right to be. Congrats to Morpork @Magrat Garlick, we'll (ZCC) see you in the finals!

Finally back home to assess today's friendlies

The spell after the powerplay when FHK lost four wickets in nine balls really decided the CWC SF 2. Kudos to Spavor for making a game of it, well deserved MOM to him I think, but it was a fairly uncomplicated chase as cnerd said. Mainly decided by disciplined bowling and fielding I think. Out of interest, why didn't Ted Hui play?

Ratings:
Agnes Chow 6, Tony Chung 5, Tin Yau 8, Kovrig 0, Law 0, Qasim Abdullah 4, Spavor 9, Lai O Yin 3, Lester Shum 6, Pong Nam 7, Joshua Wong 7
McGrath 5, Waters 6, Marita 8, Rowan 7, Van Heerdens 7, Mthabela 7, Fouche 8, Bungay 8, Bronkhorst 7, Saleem 7, Fox 7

Schmaltzberg played a third friendly today, poor sods, just about squeaking home against MTO. A valiant effort by them to nearly chase 251 - indeed at 145/3 they would probably have been backing themselves, and Mgilija and De Klerk surprising friend and enemy with some lusty hitting for the 8th wicket - but in the end Daniël Potgieter's remarkable 110 was enough. Just the one drop too by MTO!

Oh and Moooo won a game again too

Joshua Wong has been out-bowling him in Dev cricket, and I figured his pace and variations could be useful in those conditions. He bowled well, was actually the pick of the bowlers in terms of ball quality, bowled a gem to get Rowan as well. Just not enough runs on the board.

The way Hui and Wong are developing, I may have to consider dropping one of Lester Shum or Pong Nam from the T20 starting XI to accommodate them both.

Surely that's a fair way away. (I thought before noticing that Hui is suddenly at 31 skill...)

Similar topic: just noticed that FHK bowlers have quite low batting compared to my side. Of course, with their quality future all-rounders it's likely to not be a big problem.

Hui and Wong both have good skill distributions for T20s + pace as well, which gives them an edge of Shum/Nam in several conditions.

Oh yeah, didn't notice pace. Shum being economical helps his case, just feels weird dropping a 40/39 skill player for a 31/29.
Yea, and I'm more inclined to keep Pong Nam on because he's got 12 variation. Lester's only got 9. He's got 15 movement, but that doesn't mean much when the pitch isn't conducive to spin. Economical is a good trait but the overall effect of it isn't enough to neutralise the fact he's just predictably lobbing up offbreaks.

Hui with pace + 13 variation and Wong with pace + 12 variation make them much harder to get away in T20s. In the Dev and 50 over formats their relative lack of accuracy/movement might hinder them a bit, but they're both pretty good in T20s and the stats bear that out.

ZCC have lost the toss and been put in to field one a somewhat dry and worn deck. Their openers have gotten them off to a flier - not ideal, need Luke Giddings to pull them back or else we'll be in for a large runchase away from home, which is something I do not want.

Haven't bowled too badly, conditions just don't suit the quicks and their openers have played well.

Ah, you're playing the team that went up from my league last year.

Tough customers. Their top order are much stronger than just wages would suggest

We've nipped one of them out, so hopefully that starts the slide. No Estandau today due to injury, Abdul Younis comes in to bowl a few overs of spin and bat at 8. Big job for Luke Giddings.

Morpork going well bowling first on a tricky to bat surface. Keep them under 200 and you should be able to win this.

Their best bat is at 4 so unless a Fouche or van Heerdens meme wicket gets him soon this could get nasty

Tough loss for GG overnight as well, failed to chase 168 - bowled out by spinners on a green wicket. Ouch.

Gidding gets the big wicket of their number 3 batter, albeit as a runout, and Chung Yiu picks up their 2nd opener and 17 YO prospect shortly after that.

4 down in 22.3 overs, hopefully we keep them to a below par score and chase it down with minimal fuss.

Oh dear. Skipper runs out skipper, and they're now 5 down with less than 100 on the board. Been on the receiving end of a few batting mishaps, so I sympathise.
