Fairly meaningless series, lifeless pitches, stinking hot, young fast bowler susceptible to injury. No thanks. Time in the gym and indoor nets in Wellington would be better.

Has anyone been to the Mace tour?

Thinking of heading along to the Wellington one on Friday.
Yep, went to the Whangarei one. We got Southee, Ajaz and Somerville, but it sounds like the bigger centres are getting more players.

Very cool to get right up close to the mace and have a photo taken with it. Seems to be big turnouts so far too - multiple bus loads of school kids at our one.

Taylor’s the only one who actually played in the final we get in Wellington. Young, Blundell and Ravindra the others. Would have been nice to have a chance to farewell Watling, but not to be.

Found his form vs Aussies and the Bangladesh towards the end of the season. Didn't go very well in UAE in the PSL. Munro was the pick of the players in the PSL. Maybe a chance for him to get that one last gig in the t20 wc.
Yeah this. Are we really expecting Gup to swap b/w any of those? Esp looking at T20 WC in UAE? I watched him in PSL and really was meh. Ignore the BD series, so that's just one series vs Oz. IDK, I guess he'll make it maybe. Fair, I'm fine with giving him one last shot, but tbh I'm not really keen on keeping anyone out for the WC for Gup. (Ready to eat my words here ofc)

Is the tour of Bangaz confirmed? Saw an ad on SKY saying it starts Aug 18 but I can't find anything about it online.

No idea.

But just saw this doing a google search.. A day old news.

IPL 2021 Phase 2: New Zealand cricketers to be available for IPL in UAE – After a lot of speculations, IPL franchises can breathe a sigh of relief about New Zealand players’ availability. New Zealand Cricket chief David White has confirmed that Kane Williamson, Trent Boult, Kyle Jamieson and other Kiwi stars will be available in the IPL 2021 Phase 2 despite New Zealand playing Pakistan in a limited-overs series during the window.

With New Zealand touring Pakistan in the September-October window, it was expected that after England even Kiwi players would be absent from the IPL 2021 Phase 2 in UAE. Their availability was further plunged into doubt after Pakistan requested for two additional T20I matches in addition to three ODIs and as many T20Is.

However, David White was quoted by GeoTV saying that “New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson, Trent Boult, James Neesham, and Lockie Ferguson will feature in the second phase of the IPL 2021 in the UAE” instead of the Pakistan series.

With the T20 World Cup slated to start on October 17, England and Bangladesh have already barred players from taking part in the IPL 2021 while Cricket Australia is also mulling over pulling out their players. However, NZC had remained silent on the matter until now.

New Zealand Players in IPL 2021: Kane Williamson (SRH), Adam Milne (MI), Trent Boult (MI), Mitchell Santner (CSK), Lockie Ferguson (KKR), Tim Seifert (KKR), Finn Allen (RCB), Kyle Jamieson (RCB).

And this.

Again, like above, from a foreign news source, because there doesn't seem to be a cricket media left in NZ?

New Zealand Tour of Pakistan (PAK vs NZ): New Zealand’s tour of Pakistan is set for the September-October window after Babar Azam-led side returns from the West Indies tour. However, New Zealand Cricket chief David White has declared that Kane Williamson & Co’s tour will go ahead only if its security consultants are happy with the arrangements made by Pakistan cricket and the government.

To get security assurances, New Zealand Cricket (NZC) has hired independent security consultant Rig Dickson. He will be visiting Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi soon to analyze the security preparations. New Zealand’s tour will depend on his security assessment. If he is satisfied with the preparations, only then Kane Williamson and Co will travel to Pakistan.

Can only assume on the mace tour there was not a single journalist / administrator interaction ...

Almost related news from a country with an actual cricket media. For a tour to same destination one month later.

England tour of Bangladesh postponed indefinitely
The teams were scheduled to play three ODIs and three T20Is in September-October

While sources within English cricket have suggested the postponement was the decision of the BCB there has been no confirmation at this point. A statement is expected shortly, however, with the reason given likely to be complications around Covid protocols.

It may be relevant, however, that the decision will enable many of those involved to return to the IPL when it resumes in the UAE on September 19.

I was reading/hearing that the Bangladesh squad, coaches, plus umpires all had to go into a bubble in preparation to receive the Australian tour happening at the moment. And they missed having Eid with their families. Were worried after the covid contact issue in Windies charter flight that Australia might cancel, and all for nothing etc

So, good Australia tour is going ahead after that sort of preparation and sacrafice.

I don't really care if the NZ tour goes ahead , from a cricketing POV, seems a lot kefuffle for a few white ball games. Showing my red ball bias. I'm just surprised that no one seems to know or have announced anything. But Bangladesh did tour here last summer, did the MIQ thing etc .
