Isn't that the second catch Southee has dropped this game? Does he not usually field at slip?
Yeah, after that screamer to remove Rohit he's shelled two. Normally very safe pair of hands in the slips. Not sure why Latham isn't in there.

How much can we afford to chase in say 50 overs comfortably? 150? India will bat out another 25 to 30 overs. If they bat 40 they may get 100-120 runs. 170 off 40 won't be easy to get.

Need to bowl India out inside 25-30 overs to have a reasonable chance.

The word I would use to describe those wickets is tentative. India just looked so tentative. At least these two seem to have made up their minds to play a certain way.
So much for the commentators building up Kohli why he didn't take as night watchman, how he looks forward to these challenges, very positive etc... I think they should stop hyping up the man. He is a gun player but not indispensable like they make him out to be.

India has to score atleast a 100 more and then we'll have a game of it atleast. NZ will be heavy favourites but final and runs on the board and all.

He is indispensable to this side definitely though. In NZ and English conditions doubly so.

Right, really need Boult on form here. Can't afford him spraying it around and releasing all pressure

Interesting stat that Southee has a higher catching % in the slips than Latham (think it was 91 v 85%), although as Atherton says that is the 3rd this summer. Latham's catching has been sensational this game.

Southee hardly ever drops anything in the slips. Pretty sure Taylor spills the most and he's a pretty good set of hands

Mmm this thread got a bit Gambhiry from Indian fans after those two wickets. Sure NZ are ahead, but India still right in this - low-scoring match, it only takes one partnership to put a team a long way ahead*, and Rahane/Pant/Jadeja are all the right type of player to play attacking innings that can counteract the difficult batting conditions.

* ignoring whether there's enough time to bowl NZ out and actually win
