again, still too chummy against the common enemy (england) here.

new zealand has better volcanoes. they actually build themselves properly, making a nice a e s t h e t i c cone.

india have the deccan traps, which was basically a volcano so lazy it just jizzed out all its magma and left a mess everywhere, and that only happened because the dinosaur killing asteroid tickled deccans prostate.

don't get me started on mountains. nz has taranaki, the southern alps, little itty bitty titty cones like mt eden etc. india basically let tibet, nepal and others do all the work on the himilayas then said dibs. ****in lazy.

honestly, with such piss poor mountaining, india really don't deserve to win a game of cricket.

Daemon's right (and I do have a degree in this stuff)
that wasn't daemon, that was the other one

i also have a degree in this stuff to flex on a cricket nerd message board. the first rule of geology is to make it do what you want it to, especially when you combine it with geography. it's not like anyone in government listens to us anyway.

India literally created the himalayas shut up
*indian continent

which contains like geographic countries and stuff, and frankly no one asked the indian continent to come barging in like that. ****in rude.

contrast that to nz, where two tectonic plates are basically having se...grinding against one another to birth the southern alps like mature adults.

Indian continent went barging in to have proper time zone. We can enjoy both WTC final and Euro cup without being awake at 3 am ?

does the venue have other plans for that 7th day? No
can all the players, umpires, staff make themselves available for the 7th day? Yes
do the broadcasters have something else to show on that 7th day, and are they willing to pay for the crews and logistics to show a 7th day? Yes
how about all the hotel bookings? enough accommodation for everyone? Yes
can the flights be rescheduled? is everyone's visa valid if they want to stay another day. Yes

Off the top of my head there are already so many things to consider, and I don't even organise Test matches. This is common sense. I imagine a person who actually does this for a living could probably name another dozen considerations to factor it.

Some of y'all think moving an entire Test match on 1 month notice is as easy as changing dinner reservations.

The logistics are already ****ing immense and that's before you stop and consider that we are in the midst of a global ****ing pandemic

Agree that once Lords was no longer an option that Plan A should have been a venue like Dubai, but I can see how that would have been harsh on the ECB.

End of the day let's not forget whose to blame for all this - the CCP.
Changing some dinner reservations with months long waitlists (or longer) is actually harder.

And I’ve managed those. ICC/ECB can get ****ed.

Remember when cnerd convinced himself that the third umpire calling no balls would somehow be impossible? I realize you need to suck up to your fellow administrators so that you can get into their lame parties and stand awkwardly in a corner but seriously.

Is this some sort of joke? I'm curious how hard you genuinely think this is.

As part of a luxury travel network, we occassionally have to deal with immigration at various places our clients are landing to request and ensure a VIP/fast track arrival through immigration and customs because of initial flight delays affecting local connecting flights.
This may also involve changing some hotel and flight bookings around if it doesn't work out because the flight is THAT delayed.
It may also involve the request for extension of visas (which especially with the Pandemic situation we've had to do).

If I can manage it, I'm fairly certain ICC/ECB with their cohort of staff and connections and a worldwide showpiece match on the line can find a ****ing way.

Someone who works in broadcasting on this forum will probably chime in now and point out to @cnerd123 that no, it's really not THAT hard to change things around when its an event this big.

This isn't the ****ing Hong Kong Sixes for ****'s sake.

Whatever it takes!!!
I dont want to pile on poor cnerd here, I understand where he is coming from, but at the same time, it is a question of will and planning. If the ICC had the will to ensure they planned for the inevitable weather issues that come with hosting cricket in England, a back up venue and a plan B would have been in place. They could have started that process around the same time they decided to move to Southampton from Lords. Its their failure to even consider these things that annoys me.
