This has to stack up equal to the 2007 world cup finals. ICC totally clueless about staging and scheduling the first ever wtc finals.

If the game is going to end in a rained out draw, Virat and Kane should draw a picture of the trophy to take home.

Whatever it takes!!!
how ****ing pathetic it is that a bunch of county games and a women's test in the same country are going ahead on time and yet the WTC final cannot happen coz lazy ICC and ECB could not keep a backup venue ready just in case English weather was gonna be English weather

Although Doull also hates South Africans with flowing locks.

I'm 140 miles from Southampton and it's a perfect day for cricket. Warm and sunny, but not too hot with no chance of rain. It's just a shame we don't have any cricket grounds in Devon. :artist:

Really.. what race is he against? Never heard of it.
He'd said some things about spectator behavior in the Caribbean back on the '76 tour but I think that was uptight conditioning more than racism. He was scandalized by drink and gambling back then too. Don't think WI players themselves have ever held a grudge against him on that front seeing as how they used to go for lunch to his house on the rest day of the Bombay Test on later tours.

In fairness it would be tough for a backup location given that we're, y'know, in a pandemic.

Definitely something they should look for in 2023 but even then it would be tough to do it on such short notice.

The only real logic in playing the Final in England was so that the first ever final could be at Lords. As soon as it moved to Southampton it already lost a bit of soul, especially with only 3,500 fans being allowed to attend. The weather has made it a complete disaster area.

Nah.. it would be true if they did not have another ground with a hotel on prem. But they do and it is all on them. If you cant run your showpiece events in a proper way and even plan for weather eventualities, its no surprise when they are considered a joke of an organization.

Wonder if one week is short notice if they have a backup plan? I mean it was evident rain would play spoilsport since a week or so.

I guess......but equally what happens if they move it because they fear rain and it doesn't rain at the original location but rains at the new one? Weather is a very tricky thing to predict.

Plus for all we know the next 5 days will be fine.
