Huge mistake. The only reason I'm quietly confident is because of the variety in our attack. Not playing either Ashwin or Jadeja seriously compromises an already unreliable batting line-up as well.

With Thakur not in squad, it is certain that both Ash and Jaddu will start. India are now comfortable playing 5 bowlers everywhere and have adopted that as the strategy going forward. And the 4 pacers are bunnies with the bat.

This is what I'd go with. Shami has done enough to be picked over Siraj. He was very unlucky previous tour. Although I don't think I'll mind if they actually go with Siraj tbh. Actually a bit intrigued to see what he can do.

One reason to play guys like Shami and Boult is because the WTC final is the culmination of a multi-year cycle during which both these bowlers were pivotal to their teams. So, it feels a little wrong to exclude them. Shami's numbers are obviously better and his competition is at least an in-form Siraj while Boult has to compete with a spinner.

- Henry is not better than Boult and is redundant when Southee and Jamieson are in the team
- Blundell - no I still think Watling is better, particularly if India play 2 spinners
- Ravindra is not ready.
