going back to the fairness posts. no sympathy for india on that front. they're not sri lanka, they could throw money at a couple of counties for a warm up and have their best players skip the domestic gimmick tournament. they're the best placed country on earth to prepare for a big game.

the lack of proper tour games from my own team frustrates me to no end, so im not going to pity a team dumb enough to risk a lack of match practice against us.

as regards to who is #1, i think even the strength of feeling in pews post earlier is kind of stupid. this is a world cup, and in world cups we roll with the situation we've got and one of the best 2-3 teams wins. it would be perfectly fair if flawed to rate nz > india if nz win this final. i personally will not because i think india have the slightly more balanced squad thanks to jadeja/ashwin and their C team were incredible in australia. that was clutch because they were gone if they didn't pull that off.

i think india will win this final because they have a very good team and im used to being sad.

one final point - @Athlai i don't think this is our best team ever because looking back at 80s games, hadlee was kind of a cheat code and crowe/jones/wright in particular have excellent records when you compare within the era. a professionalised version of that 80s side would beat our current team imo, despite our current side having far more depth and more consistent high quality throughout. like henry nicholls strolls into the 80s team but we have nothing to match hadlee on an instant win button day.

not enough work for the mods in this thread, let's make a combined side to take on michael vaughans pack of lame 2005ers in england. i have chosen michael vaughans side because he's a guy whose day/life you want to ruin infinitely more than the strauss/flower combo. assume players are themselves from past 2 years since we're taking on another short lived glory side.

pant owns the worst innings i have ever seen on our shores so i'll hold that against him especially when he boofs my team around this weekend for 150* and i love henry nicholls. id drop kohli for rahane because i love some rahane but then the side might get less chat going.

nah, you don't get what makes me love a player. i don't love players solely because they're emotional or aggressive.

you can't really love a player if he loves himself more than you ever could love him. the closest i can come to that is with jadeja and its only because he is premium jam.

36 allout 36/9 is such a sweet memory now knowing what it led to. Everytime I read the VictorIan post after the adelaide test in my sig, my day instantly gets better

I don't know how to be respectful about this. This is like the whole carcuss of India just rolled over and died, right in front of my very eyes. It must be horrible for the fans. Delusions of superiority ripped from their eyes in humiliating fashion. They will wake up tomorrow and it will still be true. Everytime they have a smug argument, in the future, '36' will shut it down. So, i know I am meant to empathise with our Indian fans, having experienced it in the past. But this performance is worse. Much worse. I offer my condolences in the least smug way I can muster..

I think this will be a really good test match. With the bowling attack on both sides, and with India's batting line up, this could end in 3 days. Maybe still will not be completely one-sided. Hopefully the pitch favours the bat a little because thats the only way we get at least 4 days imo.

every kiwi on this board has woken up after a national sporting world cup or world championship victory more often than every indian on the planet.

we have a 40 percent chance of doing it again next week. 5 million vs 1 billion. bridesmaid sport vs national religion. pressures all on india here mate.
