Definitely a way better pitch for batting. It's only the first session. Bowling is reasonable so far but not consistently threatening.

In terms of the general shape he’s getting so far Mitchell is doing a very good CDG impersonation so far. Of course it’s all moot as England will score whatever they want here.

Wagner has caused the most uncertainty of the bowlers so far, drawn a few edges and been unlucky to concede the runs he has.

Boult and Henry were patchy and overall not consistent enough.

Going to need some patience.

Could NZ have bowled a bit fuller? Everytime they've gone really full they seem to have induced edges, but otherwise the openers have been able to leave comfortably.

Can't blame the opening pair too much for batting cautiously. This isn't one of those recent England sides that has stacked the batting from #s 1-10.

This is a side has has stacked the batting at #4.
