*Official* New Zealand in England 2021

The Hutt Rec

International Vice-Captain
Guptill and Santa have been brought up but it’s incomparable. Statistically they both performed about as well as the next bloke we had to fill that role. Eras of poor openers and poor spinners.
there Is no way the next 5 seamers we bring in would end up averaging 50 after 13 Tests
I dunno, Raval did initially come in and do a lot better than Guptill. Ended horribly though, but his form for Auckland while Guptill was in the side was very good.

U19 Captain
Not sure about this take? Essentially the story of his 7 year international career is he has always been good with the new ball in ODIs and bad at everything else. Nothing much has changed.
Sorry I'll clarify - I was thinking more red ball domestic cricket. Had a crazy good record early on, averaging in the teens for the first couple seasons. Came into ODI cricket and performed very well. But he's been going backwards there..

He's never performed at test level.

henry was unlucky against pakistan (dropped catches count as unlucky) but disappointed jamieson was dropped for him.

our team is very flimsy. concerned england have two 150kph bowlers.

2.5 years since the last tour of UAE and surely in that time Ajaz, Somerville and Astle (now retired of course) all noticeably better than Santner?

Barring that Bay Oval test, they've probably batted about as well as he has too.

Where did Somerville go? He was decent with the bat. Mitchell/De Grandhomme at 8 works fine also.

I’m so torn watching Wagner bowl. I far prefer watching him pitch it up and swing it (he is actually very skilful and accurate) but it means he’s failing to deploy his memey short ball powers

Played in the third test at Sydney in 2019/20 and didn't go too well. Patel came in for the home series against India. Don't think he's been in the team since.

i was very surprised he wasn’t picked for this tour. Didn’t have the best season for Auckland, but still took his wickets at about 35 which was miiiiles better than Ajaz (who admittedly only played a handful of games due to injury).

Every now and then Henry lands one on the right length and looks nasty before reverting back to short of a good length nothings. Really frustrating bowler.
