that's good to hear. if someone changes for the better, gotta respect that.

haha im pretty sure it was mystery morrison who resigned from cricket wellington in protest because his mate got caught with objectionable material.
Yep, stormed off in a huff because nothing had been proven about Ron Brierley's hundred of thousands of pedofile and child s*x images and videos they found on his laptop at customs. It might have been put on there by the cops to frame him! Then Brierley pled guilty which has made Morrison look even more gross than he did in the first place.

Always liked him as a tv commentator when I was a kid (the boy's choir jokes would have gone over my head at that age) but he showed his true colours with that one :(

No doubt upbringing has a role in it, but that can't be a 100% excuse ... my Dad was born and bred in Waimate and is over 70 now, and I've never heard a racist word out of him ... in fact I think he'd be disgusted by it (my Mum definitely would). He did head off to uni to study engineering though, so I guess he's got a pretty logical mind.

Also have to say I don't think I've ever come across any racism in my club cricket days ... but maybe playing for Naenae and Taita meant it was pretty unlikely. Don't recall anything from opposition sides though, sledging did cross the line in getting too personal from time to time, but not due to race.
Waimate! I was the Oamaru Mail's Waimate reporter for a year.

When I went to Dunedin for uni everyone always joked that Waimate was the most inbred place in NZ, which was a bit of a blow haha. Kept quiet about where that half of the family was from!

I really hope Nicholls can reach 100 tomorrow. He has 6 home centuries and one "neutral 100" (vs Pakistan in the UAE), but a Lords' century would really establish him (and quieten the haters).
Yet to watch his inning. Now that I know the score want to watch the highlights but want to watch Devon's inning every ball. It's going to take a long time to catch up but if I start at 6 I could probably get there by the time day 2 starts. Taken a day off tomorrow in the hope Devon scores over 250+, fireworks from CDG and some late England wickets. Heading back not out is an amazing feeling even if on 20. Devon is on 136 so big day ahead. Either he won't be sleeping tonight or will have slept like a log.

Just watched Rosco bat... That was a bit dodgy. Am I to believe wtc finals is the last time I'm going to see him bat in test cricket? Young may be slotted in sooner than I think.

Yesterday was one of those rare days on which I could watch practically every ball of a day's test cricket (so well suited are England games for the Indian TV/streaming audience, wish NZ played there a lot more). So got to see Conway's knock in its entirety.

The thing that stood out for me, which was already apparent from the white ball games he played in, but particularly reinforced yesterday - he seems to relish the battle and enjoys being out there in the thick of things. England built pressure well at times, drying up the runs expertly, but it didn't seem to bother him - as soon as the scoring opportunity presented itself he made sure he took it. Guys like Taylor, Latham and even KW at times have been guilty of blinking first whenever the squeeze is applied well by opposition bowlers. Wasn't surprised that he built a big partnership with Nicholls, who is the one other player in the top five who is generally good at not being 'bored out' by the opposition. Conway has some faults which will no doubt be analysed and targeted in the future, but this quality alone makes him an asset to the NZ lineup IMO.

Robinson was sacked by Yorkshire as a kid for being a tool. This is evidence of the fact that he was a tool.

Yorkshire have complaints of racism against them, was the view of Robinson just accepted by others at the club so he wouldn't learn anyway.

Devon adapted to the demands real well. I thought one bowler that'll pose him some challenges was Mark Wood if he bowled long enough into his ribs. He hit him twice but the way he took on Wood with pull shots post lunch was great to see. He adapted to the demands quickly. Most get blown away and do stupid things after wearing a couple.

Nicholls probably played the best I've seen him recently. Barely attempted cover drives which he plays with weight back and edges fair number of them. He put away the cover drives and also played pull shots very sparingly. Generally he's quick to pull awkwardly. The guys did know what they were doing.

England fielding, energy in the field and consistency in line and length was found wanting. Just feels like they're fielders are quite slow and uninspiring or maybe it's the slope. Not sure. They rely so much on Broad to knock over the left handers the rest of the bowling bowls mostly to right handers. Broad having a day off means the rest couldn't adapt.

Good one from Doully about Ollie. He said rather than read out a statement he should have spoken from his heart. That would have sounded better.

He also said he needs help and he needs to seek help. ECB needs to help him get that. It is not right then, it is not right now or ever. Rightly put.

Murdoch continues his unparalleled record of being a **** of the highest order

What Robinson said was wrong but has been a matter of public record for years

Regurgitating it on test debut is no coincidence

Yeah, I can’t really judge a guy too harshly for making a bunch of **** edgelord jokes on twitter as a teenager. Agreed the prepared statement was cringey, but the important thing is he’s apologised. Time to move on.
