BARNES OUT
Okay I am crying now.
Following LT's recommendation, I watched the Scottish Cup Final yesterday. Great achievement for St Johnstone, but both sides would struggle in the ChampionshipTbf it's Scotch football, of course it's garbage.
Yeah the quality has nose-dived, fair few Exeter players that were released have done okay up there, think most of them would struggle in Division 3 or 4.Following LT's recommendation, I watched the Scottish Cup Final yesterday. The same thing happens in the Europa League. Group winners get to the last 16, playoff round is the 8 runners up vs 3rd place in the Champions League.Just been looking at the mechanics of the new Europa Conference Cup. 32 teams in 8 groups with the 8 group winners going to the last 16 and 8 group runners up playing off against 8 teams dropping from the Europa League for the other 8 last 16 places. I’m in favour of different tiers of European trophies but the mixing and matching seems a little bonkers. At least it doesn’t appear as though you can fall from the CL to the third tier cup.
I saw a stat (I'm going by memory which means the numbers might not be quite right but the general point remains) that Leicester have been in the top 4 for something like 68 out of the last 71 games but have failed to qualify for the Champions League twice.Vintage Rodgers choke-job.
No **** given the lack of money in the game up here.Following LT's recommendation, I watched the Scottish Cup Final yesterday. Great achievement for St Johnstone, but both sides would struggle in the Championship
I know and I don’t like it. Winning the Europa League if you start in it is great, but if Manure win it this season it just has the feel of a booby prize. The same thing happens in the Europa League. Spent the most time in the top 4 of any club this season and still didn't qualifyI saw a stat (I'm going by memory which means the numbers might not be quite right but the general point remains) that Leicester have been in the top 4 for something like 68 out of the last 71 games but have failed to qualify for the Champions League twice.
First time he's scored twice off the bench since his debut, which feels quite poetic.Okay I am crying now.
Yeah, I know. What I don't understand is how the talent pool has dried up so much that we don't have many Scottish footballers in the EPL. Showing my age, there was a time 40 years ago when a composite UK team would have included Hansen, Souness, Dalglish and Robertson as automatic picks. Plus another handful who would have genuinely been competing for a place in said starting XI. And a similar point could have been made throughout the 1970s and 1960s too. Doubtless this has been discussed elsewhere, but why does Scotland not produce that calibre of players nowadays? Or is it simply the lack of money that puts talented youngsters off even trying to make a career out of the game?No **** given the lack of money in the game up here.
