No Ben Sears for Wellington. Is he injured again, or are Wellington taking the approach of resting him every 2nd first class match?

The sixes vs. fours ratio could continue to look bizarre throughout this Wgtn vs. ND match. Ravindra already with three.

Ah,could see this pitch in the tv coverage yesterday. All painted up already as well which was a bit strange. Extreme edge of block.

Maiden first class century for Dale Phillips. Max Chu with a fifty too, both from the 2018 youth WC team.

Well hey, it isn't often that an unbeaten opening pair has a batsman who has reached 100 and the other batsman hasn't reached 50 - especially considering that Georgeson has faced 38 more deliveries than Ravindra.

Looks like we've found a Pujara's NZ version, Luke Georgeson. 50 off 208 balls.

Ravindra way too much class. Enough said.

Found a bit of time to check out firebirds highlights. That was some batting from Ravindra. Peppered the bowlers all over the park. Barring Wagner everyone copped it. The way he was getting into position so quickly to Kuggs and Fischer he made them look like 120k bowlers.

Needless way to get out though now seeing firebirds are 3 down. There's lots in the pitch still and his attempt to smash Walker out of the attack was premature.

If he does that in international cricket coaches and the team won't be happy.

The way he was finding the middle of the bat and the amount of mental toughness it takes to come back from serious injury it takes a huge effort. Shame it didn't last longer.

If it was Conway in the same situation guaranteed 250+

If Ravindra is fit enough he'll be going to UK no doubt likely as no 6 bat and bowl spin.

Rob O'Donnell scoring heaps too..I guess he got a hundred last game and a near hundred this game.

The Canterbury bowlers are wrecking havoc around the country.

Sears will not make it.
Make it as in to the test team?

It's quite disappointing he's more out than in. I have very high hopes for Sears. Of the younger lot I think he's the most exciting out there but he has to be available otherwise the selectors won't show interest. I thought he was going to play for BCs this year but I can't blame the selectors for not picking him. His limited availability makes it very hard to pick.

sears is 21-22. by the standards of his age he has been fit for plenty of games. he'll either go the starc route or the pattinson route at about 25

Yes he turned 23 last month, Phlegm. I'm not sure there's a sixth year on law degrees too often is there, so maybe the fitness and performance in 2021/22 could be more to everyone's liking.

Watched the highlights of this, coasted to 50 off short rubbish from Nuttall for the most part, but runs are runs.

Ravindras hundred looked very classy, left handers >>>.

Blundell gets to another hundred, second of the season for firebirds in red ball cricket. Both came batting at no.5 suppose things to come if and when BJ retires. Blundell is a very good red ball player and good with the gloves. Don't think he's an opener but he can't bat at 5 or 6 for BCs at the moment.

Troy johnson has been in some form this year. Would have probably got a hundy today if firebirds didn't declare.
