I'm sorry but I just don't buy this at all. NZ are playing two tests previous to the WTC final in England both at grounds which don't have onsite hotels to make it "more viable for Covid bubbles".

This reeks of BCCI muscling the ICC into getting their own way as Southampton probably is the 2nd most spin friendly deck in UK after Taunton. Maybe I'm slightly bias but it feels like an element of "India don't want to face NZ bowlers on a juicy green Lords deck".
Thoughts?

Not Terrible
NZ have never played a Test at the Rose Bowl and India are the only team besides England to ever lose a Test at the Rose Bowl. I wanna say conspiracy but there are better grounds for India.

Think we have won most tests at Lord's in England.

Is Shastri making a valid point or is he whining like @TheBrand ?
I suppose he is a bit pissed off but if anything, I feel England were even worse served by this system. It ended up disadvantaging teams that actually plays more games. Now you can argue it is the Big 3's fault teams like NZ don't play more, but I dont think that is fully accurate. It was a best of a bad situation kind of move. It was always gonna be unfair on someone and it ended up being unfair on England and India, and to an extent, Australia given they played the most tests.

One game only is good, performing in a one-off match with everything on the line is a big test.
on the other hand in a multiple test series if you’re the team facing a series loss if you can’t win then you’re being tested on how you can perform with all the chips in the middle anyway

dunno how to quote across pages because i’m on my phone rn but VI’s idea on the 34th page is quite good, though i would probably advocate for four grounds that are neutral in different countries and then lords to finish it all off in a series of five tests; you’re going for all the marbles, tombola included, you need a grand spectate that can match the occasion tbh

Australia were robbed tbh, they'd have very likely thrashed SA.
These things are both true, but one isn't related to the other. If it wasn't for penalty for slow over rate Aus would have made the final. I'm almost certain there would have been plenty of occassions in Tests during the last few years where over rate by a team was just as bad but wasn't penalised.

Dunno about tombola, but geography nerd alert. (Bay Oval) Blake Park is located on a tombolo. So play the final there.
