Seriously, it's not that hard to win in India. All you need is to groom at least 2 spinners, which I presume is easier than grooming fast bowlers.
Against this batting lineup, yes. But I don't want to judge them too early either, they haven't played any home tests since a long time. But yes, two-three spinners who can bowl at 90k+ with good accuracy(AKA Monty Panesar) can make a huge difference in these conditions. Forget flight, drift and all the fancy stuff, doesn't work against the Asian batsmen on these pitches.

Whatever it takes!!!
There is a lot of overreaction in this thread but one issue I have with what we have done this series is how much we have tried to predetermine what we are doing and how we are playing. We played according to situation a lot more in Australia, especially with the bat and in Chennai this series, which brought us the best results. Need to do more of that. Playing to a set pattern agreed by the dressing room for this long is not good enough.

Is this the best pitch an English side has ever got in Asia? There's enough there for the pace bowlers, one more pace bowler would have made a massive difference here.

The Nawabs were no great shakes either though and if we start analyzing personal lives too much, it can become rough.

EDIT: Removed since cnerd clarified he read up on the wrong de Mello.

Kohli generally performs when he's riled up with a hurt ego. We need someone from the opposition to do a Kesrick Williams to get him pumped up.
He’s on the slide I’m afraid. All downhill from here.

Think Kohli wanted to make a point about seamers having a role to play and defensive techniques going into this match. Pre-meditated like you say.
