finally, a squad central can dominatefinn allen needs to play purely off the fact that he's a fkn chad
It's not about learning something about Gup, it's about giving him more opportunities to find his touch again. He's just timing it abysmally, to me it seems like he's in the opposite of flow - just over-thinking and over-willing everything he's doing. Let him get back in that top environment, talk to Kane, be around those guys and find his game again. I don't think you chuck away someone like Gup that quickly unless the stuff below is cherry ripe and ready (which Allen is not). What’s another 3 t20s vs Bangers going to tell us about Guptill that we don’t already know? I’d say it would actually be worth investing in Allen in case Guptill’s abysmal form continues in the World Cup as well, lest we end up with another Munro situation, totally out of form with no back up plan ... but I don’t know how fair it is to send Allen straight onto that stage in foreign conditions. Not very I guess.
They had him due to bat 7 in their last game too. They only lost four wickets so he didn't actually bat but it was the same balance. Only losing four wickets but still losing the game doesn't really scream "stack the batting" as a response either, tbf.the auckland 12 listed on cricinfo looks really light on batting. i count 6 batting options, several of whom can bowl. jamieson can hit it a long way but surely they're not tempting fate with him at #7?
playing with fire tho. auckland aren't that good. behind phillips and chapman there's **** all. They had him due to bat 7 in their last game too. More jinxes hahaplaying with fire tho. auckland aren't that good. behind phillips and chapman there's **** all.
Yeah good jinxing. Can rely on Otago batting badly no matter what Auckland set anyway.the auckland 12 listed on cricinfo looks really light on batting. i count 6 batting options, several of whom can bowl. jamieson can hit it a long way but surely they're not tempting fate with him at #7?
You've gotta say that Otago have overperformed just by winning a couple of games. Especially with the Blackcaps playing in most of the competition they've looked miiiiiiles below the other teams in bowling, batting and fielding.Yeah good jinxing. In saying that, these two teams will be joint wooden spooners after Auckland win today. Auckland really should have done better.
Guptill's terrible form has hurt them a lot. Still should have done better imo - a couple of newer players like W O'Donnell and Ter Braak have actually contributed quite well, but most of the mid-tier players in the side have been a bit sub-par.auckland were always in trouble this season with ferguson injured, munro overseas, mcclenaghan and allen moving and guptill losing all touch.
munro
allen
guptill
phillips
chapman
solia
horne
jamieson
somerville
mcclenaghan
ferguson
would have been tournament favourites imo. the talent is there, they just can't hold onto it. they need to export ferns and ter braak not allen and mcclenaghan. the motivational speaker coach looks like a right royal dunce right now.
I've missed plenty of games but Otago's bowling looks ok on paper. You've gotta say that Otago have overperformed just by winning a couple of games. Especially with the Blackcaps playing in most of the competition they've looked miiiiiiles below the other teams in bowling, batting and fielding.
Phillips averaging <20 really hurt them too. Never looked out of nick and scored freely but just got out cheaply way too many times for a team with a horribly out of form Guptill and a soft underbelly.Guptill's terrible form has hurt them a lot. Ah I couldn't remember Phillips scoring many runs but didn't go to the trouble of checking. That makes sense thanks.Phillips averaging <20 really hurt them too. He actually only made one score of above 20 in the entire tournament. It was a memorable 68 off 33, but all the same.Ah I couldn't remember Phillips scoring many runs but didn't go to the trouble of checking. That makes sense thanks.
