If they're really lucky, they'll just cop the edge of the downpour. It is moving slightly south on the radar towards the Good Coast. The streets there will be awash with orange fake tan.

Jadeja, Ashwin, Kuldeep and two seamers probably Ishant and Shami v England?
It's hard to guess their lineup without knowing who will actually be fit. Jadeja might not be back in time which would mean Sundar possibly keeps his place unless Hardik is fit to bowl by then.

Whatever it takes!!!
For England, I dont think Shami, Jadeja or even Bumrah will be fit for the Chennai leg at least. Expect to see Ishant/Shardul, Siraj, Sundar, Ashwin and Kuldeep as the bowling attack and Virat replacing Mayank in the batting. Means poor Gill and even Rohit are gonna be stuck under the helmet too.

We're definitely playing 2 spinners so things are looking good for Washy now. Kuldeep must be pretty gutted.

If Hardik is fit to bowl I could see an attack of two specialist quicks, Ashwin, Kuldeep and Hardik. Probably the only way Sundar wouldn't play.

Wut? Ishant and Umesh will play if Shami and Bumrah aren't available.

Seems a good call.

Do India trust Pant though to keep wicket for 4 tests where spin is so important?

Is their any other option bar Saha ? Probably would mean Pant is in trouble if they don't trust him with the gloves though.

Gill-Rohit-Che-Kohli-Rahane -Keeper? - Sundar/Jadeja.

I dont think Umesh is fit yet. Like I said, a lot of the current injured group will likely stay that way for at least the first two tests against England. Ishant, Shardul, Siraj, Bhuvi will be the fast bowlers selected. Ashwin, Sundar, Kuldeep and Nadeem will be the spinners selected. Out of these, I think we will play the 5 I mentioned. And I think they will think of giving Pant an entire series in India to see if he can work out how to keep to the spinners.

Umesh was absolute quality last time Australia toured India, bowled very well all series.

Ishant was steaming hot garbage, but that was probably the most recent time where that has been true of him
2017? yeah umesh was awesome. Ishant was mostly just unpenetrative rather than truly terrible imo.

Yeah exactly the series I was thinking of. Maybe I am misremembering with Ishant a touch, but my defining memory of him in that series is pulling stupid faces at Smith in Bangalore despite really not bowling well at all

If the rain had to come at all, it did so at a decent time for Aus, in that they can bat on this arvo if it clears quickly, but if it's washed out for the day they have enough that they can declare over night. A day-ending shower an hour earlier would have been a lot more problematic imo.
