look out for a lone voice in the background form seven seconds in
Hmmm, I didn't notice it when this video was posted initially but now that you've pointed it out @ 7 seconds it kinda there's someone saying brown dog or something that sounds like it. Or am I imagining this because I've listened to it repeatedly after hearing what he was allegedly called. :(

Was wondering about that little chat when I first saw the video, but it sounded unintelligible.

Idk lads, hard to pass that one through snicko.

We need to send that video through some softwares to isolate the background noises and make it more audible to figure it out

someone who knows that history more than me can clarify. but from what i've seen from viewing cricket in india on tv, the spectators seem to mostly either keep quiet or yell, depending on what happened in the game.

it's definitely a different spectating culture to what you get in the uk/aus/nz/sa.

yeah that was my understanding too. they got mad at bad performances - which, in those days, were common - and started throwing ****.
Come on spark...this is absolute nonsense

What Siraj reported seems fairly likely unfortunately. The Shiraz thing was probably just how he narrowed down who the ****wits were.

Paine's bat wasn't over the line, doesn't make a difference where you come from.
Even if there's no video proof of racist comments it definitely would have happened at some stage. I doubt there are many sporting events around the world that don't have it to some degree. There have been plenty of reports from people even just about this game.
Been thinking about this more that if a player isn't having fun with you then stop yelling at them, even if you don't think you're being racist. Seems like it should common sense.

It's the booze. Some people can't handle theirs and all the latent prejudice comes out. They might have to limit the number of drinks you can buy at the ground because it's usually late afternoon when ppl are sufficiently tanked up that this **** happens. Would hate to see that happen personally but what are your options really.

Whilst this is undeniably true, sadly they already limit the beer to mid-strength cat's piss in the heathen swine areas of the grounds here. It's a far cry from the 70s when there was uproar over a limit of one carton per person per day being brought in.

Bit apropos of nothing, but would have been nice if CA had a similar stance on player treatment when their own players were being relentlessly abused in South Africa rather than leave them to the wolves and then when they crack ban them for a year for an offense that barely usually gets punished.

Pretty ****ed up when you think about it

i don't even disagree with this and said so at the time but "apropos of nothing" is really putting it mildly here.

For some reason it's really getting to me and all this stuff is reminding me of it. The same cricket board (rightfully) taking such a strong stance now was nowhere to be seen 2 years ago when their own players were the victims, until they did something wrong and then went insane with punishment. Saying that CA need to look after their own players better is an understatement. While I'm not sure the BCCI is a model board by any means at least they support and stick by their players.

Whatever it takes!!!
The way BCCI and the Indian authorities handled when Symonds was racially abused by the crowd was very good too. It just seems like they only do it for racial abuse though, which has to change.
