Indian players racially abused at SCG

Something I`ve never understood is why verbal abuse towards a player has ever somehow been accepted in sport. When the **** has it ever been acceptable to be verbally abusive to absolute strangers? And somehow the verbal abuse is acceptable up until some imaginary line when it is not?

How about don't be the **** who is verbally abusive to others and you won't ever get thrown out of the place?

Ah but you see sometimes it’s a catchy song

Hopefully that's all that was said and it it's a misunderstanding. Got to remember what siraj has gone through after the tour began, even if it's just plain old "normal non-racist" harassment, it's probably not a great thing to do.

You going to kick the whole Barmy Army out every game?
I actually low key really dislike the Barmy Army when they start targeting players in an especially nasty way and think the Mitchell Johnson song was disgraceful tbh.

EDIT: As was working in the stuff about his mother/girlfriend in 2009.

Yep, I do hope it's all a big misunderstanding, Siraj apologises, the fans get some sort of compensation and India win the Test match and the series.

Fmd it's nothing on the barmy army and their harassment which happens literally every test England play.

If the abuse was racial, prosecute. If it wasn't, Siraj needs to realise he's not a special snowflake.
Tbf the whole "Warner and Smith are cheats" thing very obviously got under the touring team's collective skin in 2019.

To the extent that barely a presser went by without Paine or Langer saying how disappointing it was and how anyone booing them was an idiot.

No suggestion any of the abuse was racial then.

it hasn't happened in this series, but we've had decades of players abusing the **** out of each other with stuff you couldn't say in normal life or you'd get smacked. crowds were always going to follow suit.

Oh Daemon, but this could get so much more worse and ugly in so many different ways so quickly. Give it a chance.

oh yeah i agree. but, in general, australian sport really is, or at least should, be moving past that. too much damage has been done, too many brilliant players driven from various codes to not have basically zero tolerance going forward.

You need to have consistiency then, rather than double standards. Is it ok to wear SBW masks and yell at Warner for days about his wife? You can yell whatever you want as long as they're the same skin colour as you? Is it fine to base the offense of verbal discourse purely on the player's reaction which would vary completely between people?

Let’s make it clear that the line isn’t someone reacting more strongly than someone else being the issue. The issue is any form of belligerence, drunken or otherwise directed towards players (or anyone honestly). If you engage in that sort of activity then prepare to have your ass kicked out.

which to answer your questions would be no, no, no, and not the point. Sure some places and people may tolerate more **** talking than others but that’s what’s happening. They’re being tolerated.

You seem to think that I`m okay with some form of verbal abuse? Or do you think that because I live in SA I thought that was okay? I am not a patriotic nationalist. I thought it was disgraceful and I condemned it. I just don't think it should happen at all and for some reason people seem to think it is acceptable in sport. I have never understood that.
