Indian players racially abused at SCG

I dunno, from the vibe of it, at "best" it's a straw breaking the camel's back moment. If the blokes in the crowd are collateral casualties, that's unfortunate but it seems clear this has been a nagging issue for some time for various Indian players. So if there's heightened sensitivities its understandable and the dam was bound to break eventually.
Fmd it's nothing on the barmy army and their harassment which happens literally every test England play.

If the abuse was racial, prosecute. If it wasn't, Siraj needs to realise he's not a special snowflake.

Never a problem when Aus tour India. You can say whatever you want to the players and they wouldn't understand a word of it.

I mean back chat to the players on field doesn't really seem part of Indian spectator culture from what I've seen.

Come on man we don't have to go whataboutism on this. Perceived inaction in regards to one form of abuse doesn't mean another form shouldn't be acted against. It's bigger than this specific incident, mind you.

Two wrongs don't make a right.
That's not at all what I'm saying. How other crowds behave shouldn't influence how we expect our crowds to.

Just saying it's Siraj's fault for taking the time and effort to learn English

You really think that there were crowds that would throw **** on the field at players but wouldn't stoop to making noise at them?
someone who knows that history more than me can clarify. but from what i've seen from viewing cricket in india on tv, the spectators seem to mostly either keep quiet or yell, depending on what happened in the game.

it's definitely a different spectating culture to what you get in the uk/aus/nz/sa.

You do realize the stuff thrown at the ground, in India at least, was usually AT the home team?
yeah that was my understanding too. they got mad at bad performances - which, in those days, were common - and started throwing ****.

filmed by the guys doing it. of course they're not gonna film themselves yelling racist stuff.

that's not to confirm they did, but likely very selective evidence imo. if all they were yelling was give us a wave, im sure he would have behaved like a sane person and waved.
which is why we should wait for the investigation, siraj's side of the story, and whatever any security staff nearby heard.
