interesting you say this, and mike mentioned henry nicholls up the page. he seems a classic case of a guy who only realised he was quite decent, shovel technique and all, when he was elevated to test cricket.

Nicholls won race over Young for Baz spot by crushing it for NZ A. Since then, Young has also done well for NZ A, the highest level hes played at.

Conway has failed, so far, at highest level hes played at ( SAF franchise level). Not played A cricket yet .

Even beyond that, batting in NZ and batting in SA isn't the same thing. Conditions here may just very well play into his strengths.
