Buttler has been so poor. I know it didn't hit anything, but that's just standard keeping he's ****ed up
I know they love Buttler for what he provides behind the scenes and to be frank, I actually think Buttler is a serviceable batsman for a WK at # 7 (if we expect consistent 100s from our WK it’s only because our top order is so brittle). But I completely agree with you, there’s no way his keeping justifies a place in the squad. If he was averaging 40+ like Matt Prior was a decade ago that decision might be trickier but this really is a simple decision.

Yeah, Prior and Bairstow actually went from being awful to serviceable keepers, Buttler hasn't improved his glovework from day 1. Time for Foakes to get a run as he can average similar to Buttler and is like Jack Russell in comparison with the gloves.

I find it ironic that we picked 4 frontline seamers but have still felt the need to rotate them with the spinner. Between Cook and now Root we’ve had some pretty glib captaincy for the best part of the last decade.

Root makes Cook look inspired though which shows how bad he is.

So Stokes is fit enough to bowl after all?

Obviously it might work, but it's just perverse not to bowl Broad or even bring back Woakes for a second spell.

Hate to say it but he looks a 38 year old. Guess they will let him hang around for 600 then he can retire on his terms.
I wouldn't go that far, he's just not got that rhythm of hitting the same spot with slight variation that he had before this most recent injury. It's been a lot more wayward and when he is getting nice shape on it he's not quite full enough. It was the same when he came back from injury in India for a while iirc.
