His keeping was never great but has gone terrible this week. Even Bairstow at his worst wasn't this bad and he again isn't a great keeper. I hope we have Foakes in for the next test.

I know I'm in stuck record mode here, but the sheer stupidity of Root's decision-making is infuriating. It's obvious that this spell is taking the game beyond our reach, but our captain seems incapable of recognising the fact. This after his crap decisions after lunch on Days 1 and 2 of course.
If only we had a bowler in the side who's regularly shown himself capable of seizing the moment and grabbing a clutch of wickets.

He has never been a good captain, the things that have gone his way are more by luck than judgement. He lets things drift far too much, given how his batting has dropped off with the captaincy we wouldn't lose anything by changing the skipper. The issue is that Buttler and Stokes are the back ups and either have too much to do or shouldn't be in the side.
