Same thing happened in south Africa. The umpires weren’t calling no balls so when us or South Africa took wickets, there were a hell of a lot of no balls. If bowlers don’t know they’re bowling no balls, they get into a rhythm. It’s annoying. Happened a lot to Archer and Rabada.

That was a real kick in the pants for Eng.

Maybe just me, but not been overly impressed with Hope today. I have rated him previously, so maybe just out of sorts.

Edit: And now Bess gets him.

Wood isn’t fit to carry Archer’s jock strap as a bowling package though. Archer isn’t always *as* quick but he’s capable of dialling it back and being effective in most conditions, especially in England. I don’t know if Wood offers much more than going balls to the wall
Yeah true, Archer looks much better this morning but Wood wasn't bad in England's last away cycle. Archer needs to be fuller generally imo.

Hope didn't look convincing at all. Too many wild wafts and getting tied up

They tested out the automated no-ball system in the WT20WC, and it seemed to work pretty well. A little confusing for the crowd because you'd only realise like half a minute later that it was a no ball, but it did its main job of actually catching no balls.

It feels mean to say it and I do think he's a lot better than he showed but he didn't look anywhere near Test standard today

Tbh none of them look like they'll be good in Australian conditions. Anderson at 38 will do well to do a holding role, archer struggled in NZ so will find Aus harder. Wood despite his pace don't think he'll do any better with his injury record and inability to move the ball. Broad was decent in aus on his last tour so he might be decent.
Anderson could definitely play a good holding role, he hardly ever goes for runs these days. Archer people just seem to hugely overreact to anything he does, still think he could be very good in Australia.

It does not matter anyway because England won't score enough runs to be competitive.

Yeah Anderson-Broad-Archer seems fine as an attack in Australia, especially if there are two D/N tests which is quite possible.

This indeed is the bigger issue.
